"फंदी" डॉ. शंकर शेष का बहुचर्चित नाटक है। यह नाटक जहां एक ओर इच्छा मृत्यु के प्रश्न को वैज्ञानिक विश्लेषण के धरातल पर रखकर दर्शकों से संवाद करता है तो दूसरी ओर मनोवैज्ञानिक दुर्बलता के प्रश्न पर भी समानांतर प्रकाश डालता है। फंदी एक निम्न वर्गीय ट्रक ड्राइवर है। कैंसर से पीड़ित अपने पिता की हत्या वह इस लिए कर देता है कि उसका पिता कैंसर के असह्य दर्द के कारण बार बार इच्छा मृत्यु की मांग करता है।
