A Walk Through Fort Kochi – India’s First European Township
Trip360 is all set to explore and indulge in Cochin’s rich history and heritage; you could join us too! Kochi showcases the essence of various cultures, derived from the Dutch, Portuguese, British and Jewish influences that make the city truly intriguing. On our tour, we will visit the Old Quarter of Fort Kochi, exploring the quaint streets on foot, and stop at Fort Kochi’s seaside promenade to get a glimpse of life in the city.
The walk will take us to India’s oldest European church, built by the Portuguese, and the Nehru Children’s Park Area (we will not enter the premises). We will also visit the Dutch Cemetery, a bastion of the Portuguese, which is now managed by the Church of South India, take a brief stroll along the beach, and continue on to Bishop’s House Road, which boasts of some beautiful old-fashioned homes, and visit the Union Club building. We will end the fascinating walk with a reading session, followed by some delicious snacks at a local café.
The walk will be led by our expert historian and guide, who will share his knowledge on Kochi’s history, offer insights on the unique architecture and culture, and uncover secrets and legends about the town. An easy trail, the 2-hour walk is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels
