"Alankaar: Ek manch prem kavitaon ka." is an evening of Love poems of all kinds. We have brought to you some of the most amazing Hindi and Marathi poets from across India with their beautifully written and soulfully crafted love poems.

From Jammu and Kashmir to Bangalore, Karnataka, From Bhavnagar, Gujrat to Siliguri, West Bengal, From Delhi to Bhopal to Ghaziabad and Kanpur, From Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur to Bihar, Bokaro, Dehradun. We received love poems from everywhere, And shortlisted the best 12, that you will be hearing at the Slam. These poets will recite their love poems in the presence of Actor/Director Danish husain, Actor/Poet Priya Malik, Poet/Lyricist Swapnil Tiwari and Poet Azhar Iqbal.

Who is this slam for?

This slam is for everyone who wish to spend their Saturday evening listening to some of the most unconventional and heartfelt, Hindi and Marathi love-poems, told by talented poets coming from various cities of India. This is a chance for all the budding poets to watch and listen to the best 12 poems, shortlisted from over 300+ entries. And also hear the comments made on them by well known names of Writing and Acting Industry, who will be present at the Slam. 

About the Guests - 

Danish Husain - Danish Husain is an actor, poet, storyteller, and a theatre director. He runs his own theatre company The Hoshruba Repertory in Mumbai and his latest productions include plays Guards At The Taj and Qissa Urdu Ki Aakhiri Kitaab Ka. besides the ongoing storytelling project Qissebaazi and the poetry performance project Poetrification. with the fellow actor Denzil Smith. His major film and web series work includes India's entry to Oscar 2018 - Newton (2017), Soorma (2018), Baazaar (2018), Ankhon Dekhi (2013), Dhobi Ghat (2010), Peepli Live (2010), The bard of blood(2019) and Taj Mahal(2020)

Priya Malik - is a lot of things! A spoken word poet, an actress, an educator, a spoken word poet, a storyteller but most importantly a writer/performer whose recent viral work 2019 main 1999 is a testimony to her distinct voice. Priya has also hosted the first spoken word poetry show on national television called Uncensored News With Priya delivering current affairs (political and social issues) in a poetic format on prime time news. She addressed the assembly at UNESCO head office in India in 2019 for World Education Day and is currently reveling in the success of her short film "Sheer Korma" based on LGBTQIA issues with Shabana Azmi, Swara Bhaskar and Divya Dutta which is premiering at film festivals around the globe. Her work has received extensive coverage in the media due to the fluidity of her writing and performance style.

Azhar Iqbal - Azhar Iqbal is a well known and respected Hindustani poet who masters in the art of Ghazal. His couplets are famous amongst the youth and are often quoted at various places. He has performed at some of the most prestigious poetry stages and festivals like Jashn e Rekhta, International Bhopal Mushaira, Bazm e Khas, Deccan Literature festival Mushaira etc.

Swapnil Tiwari - Currently working as a script writer and lyricist in Hindi film industry, Swapnil Tiwari has written a few short films, a feature film and some songs for feature films and web series like “Yeh meri family” and “Sonu ke titu ki sweety”. Two collections of his ghazals are published. First collection 'Chaand Dinner par baitha hai' was published in 2016 and it was in both persian and devnagri script. The second collection 'Zindagi ik udaas ladki hai' was published last year in december. A horror novel by Swapnil is soon to be published.
