The city of Bhavnagar is located in the state of Gujarat, India. It was founded in 1723 by Bhavsinhji Gohil, when the Gohil dynasty shifted their capital from Sihor. Amidst the chaos in the heart of Bhavnagar city are the chhatris of the Bhavnagar Royal family. Many eons ago, royal families in India would get architectural marvels constructed as memorials to remember their deceased ones. These were known as chhatris. Their grandeur would be based upon numerous factors, including the popularity and greatness of the departed souls. 

Intricately carved temples welcome the visitor and then the path meanders towards the two chhatris, which remain intact in all their grandeur in spite of the passage of time. The pillars include beautiful floral motifs, while monkeys and lions stare from the dome, carved in sandstone. 

A virtual walk through at the Bhavnagar Royal Cenotaphs will include a brief introduction to the city of Bhavnagar, the rulers who contributed to this city's rich cultural heritage and the architectural elements of these ornate monuments!
