About the Event
APRE Art House Presents Performance by Aneri Sheth
'Striya Sakaama, Pavana Sugandhi'
The women are full of passion and desire, the winds are full of sweet scent, in this glorious season of Vasanta
(from Kalidasa’s poetry, Ritu Samhaara)
Bio:
An Indian Classical dancer (Mohini Attam) and a fine artist, Aneri has been engaging in these interdisciplinary practices for quite a few years. As part of her practice, she is simultaneously working on her series ‘BEEJ’ for the past 6-7 years while training seriously in Mohiniattam (since last 10 years), a classical dance style of Kerala state, under senior exponent, Mandakini Trivedi from Nateshvari Dance Gurukul.
She has given various performances for notable platforms like SPICMACAY, CSMVS (sculpture gallery), Harkat Studios, NCPA TATA THEATRE (duet) (as part of the curation ‘SANSKRITI GATHA’), and The Base (Pune).
Other than performing, Aneri has been actively and intensely teaching Mohini Attam as an assistant teacher at Nateshvari Dance Gurukul as well as in Taraben Masters High School, where she is teaching Mohini Attam to approximately 200 underprivileged children.
Taking the art to the grass root level, she has also been a part of the 'Shaniwar Shala' (Saturday School) program, a rural initiative by Shaktiyogashrama, under the aegis of Mandakini Trivedi, where she taught Mohini Attam to the students of Samparc Shaala (Bhamburde) for 1 year.
To further intensify her practice, she is also a recipient of the Dance Fellowship from the Kolkata Center of Creativity (2021).
