South Asia and its neighbours are witnessing a rise in philanthropy in the arts as major private institutional spaces, which are designed for public use, are opening their doors.

Cultural Currents: A Look at How South Asian Art Identity is Defined

At 100: Celebrating 100 years of Indian Art History through FN Souza, VS Gaitonde and Ram Kumar

Looking back at the centennial year of Souza, Gaitonde and Ram Kumar who, along with their contemporaries, aimed to create an artistic language that would reflect the changing realities of a newly independent country and establish an internationally recognised presence for Indian Modernism.

ART MUMBAI’s Cultural Ambassador, Karan Johar is coming back to the stage to talk about the creative confluence of art, culture and the city.

Performance: An Evening of Dance - Directed by Pia Sutaria.
7:30 PM — 8:30 PM | Stage
Dancers of the Indian Youth Dance Company & ICMD India led by Pia Sutaria will perform Sukshma choreographed by Neeraj Lohani with a score by Maqta, as well as Samaaj choreographed and joined by Jainil Mehta. The evening will also include solo performances by Neeraj Lohani, Vidushi D’Souza, Saumya Nigam and Deeksha Khatwani.
Pia Sutaria is a graduate of the “Royal Academy of Music” where she was a recipient of the Disney Theatrical Scholarship and is also a registered teacher with the “Royal Academy of Dance”, London. Most recently, Pia played the principal role “Mala” in the UK tour of the musical “Bombay Superstar” and also performed with the Welsh National Opera’s “Migrations”, and “Settling” at the Criterion Theatre, London. Pia has performed in India and Internationally for over a decade and has toured internationally with “Navdhara India Dance Theatre” in Turkey, Israel, Canada, USA, and Japan. A soloist at the, “National Centre for the Performing Arts” and the, “Royal Opera House”, in Mumbai, Pia has also represented global brands like Dove, Jockey, Puma, and Nike as a recognised Ballerina in India. She recently gave a TEDx talk on dance and classical ballet in India.
In 2018, Pia founded the “Institute of Classical and Modern Dance” to fill the deep void that existed for vocational training for young dancers in India. As a result, Pia’s vision is to make vocational training in dance accessible to young artists. Moreover, to make Ballet, an otherwise elitist art form, to be within the grasp of anyone who wants to pursue it. The school has successfully sent students on scholarships to top performing arts Institutions in Europe, the UK, and USA.

Creating Through Crisis : Women Artists and Conflict Zones

Join us for a photography scavenger hunt guided by award winning photographer, Sameer Parekh.
