About the Event

About Mr. Suresh Jayaram
Suresh Jayaram is a visual artist, trained as an art historian, arts administrator and curator from Bangalore. He is the Founder of 1. Shanthi Road Studio an international artist’s Residency. He is currently involved in art practise, urban mapping, archiving, curation and arts education. His keen interest in environmental and urban developmental issues influences his work.
He taught Art History at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, the College of Fine Arts in Bangalore and later went on to become the Dean from 2005-2007.He obtained his BFA in painting from the College of Fine Arts,Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat 1990 and MFA from M.S.University, Baroda in 1992 in Art Criticism.

BWF 2018 is a curated walk festival that aims at highlighting the plurality of Bangalore and celebrating its ability to harbour multiple cultures and narratives. These narrations and diverse experiences imparted from both experienced walk leaders and the residents of the city come together in spaces we've all engaged with, bringing a way for us to know the city a little better, a little more intimately as well as contribute to people’s perspectives of this beautiful urban sprawl.

What is this walk festival all about?
The Bangalore Walk Festival is a celebration of the city’s ability to accommodate multiple cultures and narratives, encouraging its residents to step out and explore this vibrant city. The festival will bring together a vast spectrum of guided walks in the city open for all to participate. With 25+ walks spread over the 9th and 12th December 2018, BWF aims to promote urban exploration and present everyone an opportunity to discover the hidden Bangalore.
What walks can I choose from?
You have several categories to choose from: • Heritage • Nature • Food • Architecture, Design and Photography • Music, Art & Culture • Experimental & Alternative
Can the tickets be bought at the venue?
Yes, but they are subject to availability. Each walk can accommodate only upto 20 people.
Do i have to start from MG Road even if i live near the Walk Venue?
Rangoli Metro Art Center at the MG road Metro Station is the Hub of the Festival. The venue has FnB, a loo, as well as serves as a hub for various people and participants to meet from all the parallel walks and events. This is also the place where all the instructions about the walk will be given and the ice breaking session will take place. Rangoli Metro Art Centre will also be hosting Srishti Live Exhibitions.Entry to the Srishti Live Exhibition is free. It’s as simple as going for a movie. Look for the walk you want to come for and click on BUY TICKET to go to the insider website and make the payment. Remember to carefully read the walk description, tips, additional costs as well as terms and conditions on the insider page to get all the information. And you’re set.
What is the festival hub? OR Where do the walks commence from?
All walks commence from Rangoli Metro Art Center, MG Road Metro Station, Bangalore. (https://goo.gl/maps/RHBqmWk7wDs ) The Walk Leaders will be travelling with their groups through the city, and may use the metro for accessibility across the city.
What should I be carrying to the walk?
Make sure you wear your walking shoes and carry a light snack and your water bottle. Food and beverages are available at the venue for a price. You may also carry a hat and napkin.
When do I arrive at the venue?
You are requested to arrive half an hour before the walk’s scheduled time.
What is included in the INR 550 ticket price?
The INR 550 ticket includes the time charges of the walk leader and the processing fees for insider only. The participants have to bear the additional cost of any other expected additional costs such as food, entry tickets to monuments and transport (if any) which will be mentioned in the walk description.

All tickets to the walk I want to go for appear to be sold out , what can I do?
Too late! Unfortunately, you’ll have to pick another walk from the festival then. You can attend a festival only if you have a valid insider ticket for the same. You can always contact the specific walk organizer and request them for a walk in the near future which will not be under the Bangalore Walk Festival umbrella and costs may vary.
How many people can I bring against one ticket?
Only one. One tickets enters one person. Since these are all walks and not performances with a large audiences, it will not be possible to accommodate any other people if they don’t have tickets to the specific walk.
Someone else is also selling the tickets for the festival. Can I buy from them?
No. Only valid tickets from the venue, or from insider will be honored. Please do not buy the tickets from any other sources.
Are tickets for children the same price? / Children under the age of how many years are allowed for free?
Children under the age of 10 are allowed free entry. If you are bringing a child along, please register their names by sending an email to blrwalkfestival@gmail.com with your walk and ticket details, for us to account for them.
Do walks have any specific requirements and recommendations?
Yes, walks may have specific recommendations for things to wear or carry with you. Please read these very carefully on the insider page to the walk you’re interested in. The page also mentions the expected additional charges to be borne by the walk participants at the time of the walk, so remember to keep some cash handy.
