About the Event

Environment II 2-3 hours

Are you a new gardener or someone who's lately been fascinated by plants but don't know where to start?

Join ecological gardener and forager, Kush Sethi from New Delhi. Kush is in Bangalore for a month and has been walking everyday in new neighbourhoods, noting DIY growing styles, people's perception towards ecology and inclusive design details in architecture.

Walk through the Malleshwaram on a Wednesday afternoon, navigating through the lanes, peeping into private gardens, stopping at wild plants and some interesting avenue trees. Use this enjoyable exercise in observation to read the city from a gardener's perspective. Explore horticulture techniques, scavenge plants & objects for your homes and draw ideas from people's practices.

1. We advise taking public transport as the start and end point are far.

2. Dress comfortably with walking shoes.

3. Use hats, shades or any sun protection you need.

4. Keep a bottle of water for yourself.

5. Keep 2-3 carry bags, a box for collecting mixed plant materials and a pair of scissor / cutting tool.

About Kush

Kush Sethi is an ecological gardener and forager based out of Delhi. Formally trained in Chemistry, he transitioned into urban ecology while working as a researcher for the Delhi Ridge. After spending a few years in the field, he trained himself in gardening & basics of botany. Inspired by resilient forest ecosystems, his practice seeks to understand problems in manicured urban horticulture formats and finding wilder, self-sustainable approaches.
