About the Event

BLIND ORCHESTRA is an international improvisation project that introduces a new and unique improvisation concept. The project is operating in Tel-Aviv, Berlin, London, St. Petersburg and Copenhagen, as well as around India, incorporating over 150 master improvisers from over 20 countries.

About the concept
The musicians play blindfolded, while one of them acts as a conductor, who signals them when to play or sing and when to stop. The musicians don’t know WHEN they will play and the conductor doesn’t know WHAT they will play.

About the show
Anything can happen in a BLIND ORCHESTRA show. The musicians are going through a unique experience which is immediately translated into music. The music arrives from the room and moment. Every show is a one night only cast of 7-9 top local improvisers. The show takes the musicians and the crowd through an exciting musical journey into the unknown. The audience witnesses new music being unfolded in front of their eyes and ears, getting a close view into the place where music comes from.

The Participants
The project is led and conceptualized by Israeli traveling musician - Dov Balu Rosen. Mostly known as drummer and founder of Israeli indie-sensation theAngelcy, Dov is also an active artist, music producer and sound engineer. Among the musicians who had participated in Blind Orchestra shows are:

Gary Plumley (played with George Michael), Manas Chowdhary (associated with Trilok Gurtu, Gipsy Kings, Richard Clyderman, Adnan Sami), Anowar Munu Hussain (Pritam), Chintan Kalra (Parikrama), Cian Finn, Uzi Ramirez, Zohar Ginzburg (Asaf Avidan), Robin Mattuck (Prem Joshua Band), Sissi Perlinger (German musician-comedian) and members of international bands like Ohrbooten, Farafi, The Turbans, and theAngelcy. The Quarter comprises four distinct venues situated at the iconic Royal Opera House. Live At The Quarter (a live music venue), Drink at The Quarter (a cocktail bar), Café at The Quarter (an all-day café), and Dine at The Quarter (an al-fresco restaurant).
