Arts Culture Resources India (ACRI) along with its Pune chapter host, TIFA Working Studios and knowledge partner, British Council Pune is a platform for professional opportunities in the cultural and creative sector. Our chapters are taking this impetus offline, to events that will be focused on arts and cultural management in India. As culture professionals, we're looking to grow, support, and share the non-artistic aspects of the arts and the people behind them.
Join us on 14th April, at 4pm on Zoom for the fourth ACRI session in Pune. We're hosting an introductory session where three experienced culture professionals will share their journeys in managing and running different art and cultural organizations online - their digital vision, tools, impact and challenges. We will hear from Nivedita Poddar, Roshan Abbas, Archana Prasad and Priyanka Raja as they talk about the various challenges in the digital sector.
Once you register, we’ll send you an email on Tuesday morning, with a link to the online session.
Speakers:
Nivedita Poddar: After completing her Masters in Modern and Contemporary art from Christie’s in London, when Nivedita returned to her hometown, she was surprised that consumption and appreciation of art were not as commonplace in India as it was back in London.
In her quest to be a part of the thriving art and culture scene and making it bigger and accessible for all who are interested in the arts, she took to Instagram and ventured to start a page called Art Fervour where she would share her personal accounts of the art and artists she interacted with.
This page showcasing stories of her personal interaction with art soon became a visual discovery platform, and then an Art-Tech Startup whose website acts as an online platform for art recommendations.Nivedita believes that art can enrich our lives immensely if we allow it to and that it is not restricted to any particular echelon in society. Her hope with Art Fervour is to make art as accessible and mainstream as possible for everyone.
Roshan Abbas: One of India’s finest orators and storytellers, Roshan Abbas is an actor; TV & radio host; producer; event manager; creative director; film & theatre director; lyricist; CEO; angel investor; serial entrepreneur; author; and public speaking coach.
Roshan founded and led Encompass (now Geometry Encompass) as Managing Director into becoming India’s largest, most awarded experiential marketing agency. He was also an initial investor in and continues to be a mentor-partner at The Glitch. Both ventures have been acquired by WPP.
Roshan has won seven national-level awards for TV and radio. In 2015, he co-founded Kommune – a performing arts collective for storytellers. He also helped conceptualise Spoken festival, bringing together performers from across the world for storytelling, poetry, spoken word, and song.
Roshan continues to inspire by sharing his life lessons on communication and storytelling with entrepreneurs, corporates, artists, and anyone looking to discover a unique voice!
Archana Prasad Archana Prasad has been actively engaged with technology enabled participatory art practices over the last fifteen years. She engages public awareness of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals through Bengaluru Fantastic, a Tech-Art Biennial in Public Space founded by her in 2017. With Dara.network, she looks at taking her interest to foster creative cross border collaborations via mobile app and offline gatherings.
Archana is the Founder of Jaaga, an organisation started in 2009 that builds collaborative communities to solve today’s big challenges. Today it has a coworking community with an alumni 500+ strong, a lab that serves enterprises through innovative tech solutions and a public arts program that has worked with more than 60+ artists and supported more than 12 international residencies. She spent close to three years till late 2007 as a Design Researcher at Microsoft Research India.
Archana is a Clore Fellow, a Chevening Fellow , a CSCLeader and an Art Think South Asia Fellow.
Priyanka Raja: Priyanka Raja along with her partner Prateek, founded Experimenter in 2009 in Kolkata, India. Experimenter represents and manages the careers of some of the most critically celebrated artists from South Asia and the rest of the world, highlighting an experimental program of exhibitions and embodies the frontline of contemporary practice in art.
Since 2010, Experimenter hosts its much acclaimed, annual curatorial intensive –
Experimenter Curators’ Hub, bringing together the most respected curators in visual arts and over the years, has built a wide archive on exhibition-making and curatorial practices. In 2017 it launched Experimenter Books, an artists’ book-object publishing division. In 2018 Experimenter opened its second space in Kolkata and introduced the influential Experimenter Learning Program as a fundamental pillar of its vision to make Experimenter a space of active engagement, rooted in dissent and dialogue. In 2019 Experimenter Outpost was launched as an iterative exhibitions program outside the physical gallery where an extension of the program temporarily inhabits disused, characterful spaces. In 2020 Experimenter Labs, an inclusive, experimental, online
platform for future thinking in addition to the onsite gallery programming was launched. With an ambitious and challenging multidisciplinary approach, Experimenter is an incubator for artists and mounts interactive installations, multiple channel work, live projects and political interventions that question the fraught and kinetic era we live in. Within a short span of time, Experimenter has garnered international critical acclaim and is looked upon as a pacesetter for contemporary practice from the region. Prior to founding Experimenter, Priyanka was India Media Manager at Proctor & Gamble. Priyanka holds an M.B.A from Lancaster University, U.K. and a double major in psychology and literature from Sophia College, Bombay.
TIFA About
TIFA Working Studios is a multi-disciplinary platform for Creativity and Culture.
We’re an inclusive space for local involvement and global exchange, facilitating critical dialogue, cultural engagement, and experimental practice relevant to our evolving context.
Since 2014, we have built a foundation to enrich interactions from intersectional layers of the social fabric and inspire dialogue and engagement therein through programming that brings forth immersive experiences and conversations.
We strongly believe that creativity pushes culture, hence, consistently catalyse cross pollination between varied creative practices, pedagogy and professional explorations. Moreover, our vision of creativity is not centered towards exclusively art-based practices. We believe creativity to exist in practices across multiple sectors such as science, technology, economics, history etc. as well.
We host creative practitioners and develop avenues for them to initiate and execute projects, collaborate, interact and perceive their and other practices with criticality. Developing a unique informal education model for students and our audiences that focuses on learning from interaction and experience, we facilitate experimentation, participation and research.
Having an ethos that inherently focuses on integration, we grow artistic potential and foster intellectual creativity through relevant work with a forward-looking approach.
