Camping at Prabamachi with Mumbai Mountain Hikers

Pabalmachi is situated between Matheran and Panvel in Raigad distric of Mahrashtra. Prabalmachi is base village of Klavantina and Prabalgad. The Altitude of Prabalgad is around 2300 ft from sea level. Earlier Prabalgad known as MURANJAN. This fort capture by Maratha Empire in 1657 and MURANJAN renamed as Prabalgad. It is sister fort is Irasalgad. Right next to Prabalgad, North side V shape Klavantin Fort is there. Prabalgad Fort of build by Bahamani Sultan. They were use it as watch tower and keep eye at Konkan region.

Prabalgad lies on the prabal plateau between Matheran and Panvel and can be easily spotted from the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The "Ulahas River" runs to the east of the fort while the "Gadhi River" runs to the west. The Patalganga River is to the south.

The forts of Chanderi and Peb are to the west. The Manikgad Fort is to the south while the Karnala fort is located towards the north.

Kalavantin (also known as Kalavati or Kalavantinicha Sulka) is a 685m high pinnacle on the northern edge of the Prabal plateau. It is located near the Machi and near the Vajepur village. This is the site of the Kalavantin Durg.

Itinerary

Day 1

06:30 pm: Meeting point Panvel railway station

07:15 pm: Reach base village & Introduction and instructions

07:30 pm: Start trekking towards Prabalmachi

09:00 pm: Reach Prabalmachi and pitch tent

09:30 pm: Dinner (veg)

10:30 pm: Bonfire

Day 2

06:30 AM - Wake-up call and freshen up

08:30 AM - Start descend post breakfast

10:00 AM - Start return journey by local transport

11:00 AM - Reach Panvel station and respective catch local trains
