Artists Info:
Jeeya Sethi
Jeeya believes if you are fat once (by fat she means FAAAAT) you are fat forever, mentally you never become thin even after losing all the weight. An event manager turned stand-up comedian, improviser and actor, she has made entertainment her new life's mission since nothing else is going for her!
Kabir Chandra
Sales head for one of the country's leading music labels, Kabir also has been a radio jockey in his past avatars and responsible for being and honing some of India's very best on-air talent. He has been a theatre artist since his teens and a college stage sensation having won multiple awards for street plays from an early age. He is now among the most emerging voices in stand-up comedy in the city and a seasoned improviser.
Govind Menon
Govind Menon, like most stand-up artists had a troubled childhood. Growing up on the mean streets of Mira Road, the only thing he had going for him was his curly hair. Having recently hit puberty, not much has changed except that instead of his diary, Menon now uses a mic to document the ridiculous events that make up his life. Some of these events also happen to be funny.
Popularly known as poor man`s Kanan Gill, Menon is now realizing that most poor people do not know Kanan. So he is making a serious effort to actually be funny. You are invited to see the progress for yourself.
Anuvab Pal
The New York Times calls Anuvab Pal India`s most intelligent comedian. The BBC calls him India`s answer to British wit. His stand-up comedy special `The Nation Wants To Know` has had over 500 shows starting in Mumbai and playing from Sydney to San Francisco to sold out houses. His current show `Empire`, a comedy show based on the history of the British Empire in India, has played in 35 cities worldwide and been called ``Spectacular`` by CNN and a ``laugh riot with brilliant ideas`` by NDTV. He`s been called a mad genius by Hindustan Times and the gentleman comic by IndiaToday. His show is the only Indian stand-up comedy show after Russel Peters` to sell out The Comedy Store in London and Gotham Comedy Club in New York in record time. He`s also the only Indian comedian invited to perform at Harvard University and the only one to have performed for the Prime Minister and President of India. Times of India lists him among India`s top 5 English comedians. He writes a weekly humor column for The Economic Times and Times Of India. He is the author of three bestselling novels (Chaos Theory, The President Is Coming, 1-888 Dial India) and two Bollywood comedy hits: `Loins Of Punjab Presents` and `The President Is Coming`. His work has been featured by CNN, BBC, The Washington Post, Vogue, Elle, Time, Newsweek and many others.
Navin Noronha
Navin Noronha is an amply likable guy who tries very hard to be a badass. To live by his motto of 'Live Fast, Die Poor', Navin has taken up writing as a profession. He also does stand-up because it fits so well into the underpaid artist routine. He is pretty good at it though, so if you find yourself cracking up, it may not be entirely incidental. Being a Bombay boy, Navin's material covers wide ground from liberalism and pigeons to evil bosses and Jesus. And did we mention that he is an engineer by qualification? Well, who isn't?
Sonali Thakker
Part-time stock-broker, full-time Gujju and weekend comedienne, Sonali Thakker is the biggest threat to the dumb blonde theory. Covering socially relevant topics such as travelling, shopping and chaprigiri, Sonali's stand-up is powerful, always funny and sometimes scary. And it has taken her to the biggest of stages including Canvas Laugh Club and NCPA. The other big love of her life is travelling as it gives her great material and is the only way she can escape from people cracking sad Gujju jokes. Surprisingly, stand-up has not increased her popularity on shaadi.com but that is okay 'coz Sonali has been kicking ass even before women's empowerment was a thing.
Pavitra Shetty
Pavitra Shetty is an undiscovered singer, upcoming stand-up artist and reportedly also a girl. To prove this, she has recently started a tag-team called The Sidechicks providing a disturbing look at what girls with unlimited WiFi connections can do. The biggest inspirations for her stand-up are her Mom, random aunts who keep visiting her place and her very own weighing scale. Already featured multiple times on television and radio, Pavvy is also part of hit Chalta Hai shows Dame Funny and Undateable. And she has an unnaturally high number of best friends who insisted that a new bio was written for her.
Saurav Mehta
Saurav Mehta, is a popular Stand-up comedian and has performed at many events like My Baby Thinks I'm Funny with Sorabh Pant
Siddharth Dudeja
Siddharth Dudeja is a 23-year-old graduate on a perpetual sabbatical. Between writing projects and trips to space, Duds also delivers flashes of brilliance on stage. Having performed at major festivals and also as a part of 'The best in Stand-up' he is trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his sabbatical. Siddharth talks about how school and vegetarians ruined his childhood and sometimes he talks about world peace.
