Your weekly dose of raw comedy talent in Powai!
This week, witness 3 pro-stand-up comedians and some new faces take up the challenge to make you laugh with their raw, unfiltered humour.
This edition will be hosted by Navin Noronha featuring Joel D’Souza and Nivedita Prakasam.
Witness the birth of the next comedy star!
Born and raised in suburban Mumbai, Navin Noronha is a stand-up comedian, improviser. He was touted as the ideal kid but, everything went sideways, or so his mom believes when he got into comedy after tanking miserably for six months. He prides himself on being a gay liberal who would like the world to be a slightly better place. He even constructed two shows called 'Homo's Odyssey' alongside comedian Nick Pillow and 'The Good Child', his solo stand-up show. Along with stand-up and improv, he also writes for major publications and hosts his own podcast, Keeping it Queer, which focuses on lives of the Indian LGBTQIA population. He was on TV in 2017 as a part of Queens of Comedy on TLC and NBA Hangout on Sony Six.
Niveditha Prakasam
Niveditha Prakasam is an automobile engineer turned language editor turned standup comedian from Tamil Nadu. She won the reality TV show TLC Queens of Comedy and has now moved to Bombay to steal everyone's jobs. Her style has been described as intelligent, wry and sarcastic.
Joel Dsouza
Growing up in a building with kids who would rarely let him bat, Joel Dsouza stuck to looking out the window for most of his childhood. Swinging on a swing was his favourite sport as it required little energy and zero friends. He would spend most of his time trying to do nothing and yet look busy only because he was busy daydreaming and lost in his thoughts. And if history has taught us anything, childhood trauma plus a pondering mind make for a great career in stand-up comedy. And Joel had started early, winning every OpenMic competition and emerging as the most promising new face in the city. So it became a win-win situation in the end, really. He is not much of social person though. So, if he's talking to you then he is probably asking you to follow him on Twitter.
