Cooking Photographs: A Workshop on Camera-Less Photography with Kitchen Ingredients
Facilitated by: Anuja Dasgupta
Part of: Methods Workshop Series
Date: May 23, 2024
Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Venue: KNMA Saket
Have you ever imagined using kitchen masalas in a completely different way? Join us for this hands-on exploration of the fundamentals of photography through the medium of the anthotype.
What to expect:
Drawing inspiration from the early days of photo-making, when experiments relied on everyday substances and sunlight, this workshop will tap into the chromatic qualities of plant matter. Participants will “draw with light” using commonplace light-sensitive materials such as masalas, kitchen produce, and waste—reimagining the kitchen as a photography lab.
Do you need to bring anything?
No! All materials and refreshments will be provided. Just bring your curiosity and commitment to attend the entire duration of the workshop.
Who can join?
This workshop is open to interested and committed participants aged 18+. Limited seats, so register soon!
Facilitator:
Anuja Dasgupta is a visual artist, educator, and social entrepreneur based in Ladakh, India. She has received several prestigious awards, including the TOTO Award for Photography (2023) and the Prince Claus Seed Award (2021). Her work has been showcased at numerous platforms, including Critical Zones at the Goethe-Institut New Delhi (2024) and the Ladakh Literature Festival (2019).
