About Kavya

Born and brought up in the US, but her heart has always been in India. Kavya started her Bharatanatyam training at the age of 4 1/2 and simultaneously trained in Jazz growing up. She has performed and choreographed for notable singers such as Hariharan, Unnikrishnan, Sadhana Sargam, and Karthik as well as ventured into the Film Industry for choreography. Kavya is the Founder & Director of "Black Swan Dance" in Chennai, a dance company well-known for fusing together artforms to create extremely unique stage and film performances. Her passion also lies in using art to discuss critical issues in our society. Most recently, she was a semifinalist for Colors Tamil Dance VS Dance, and gained immense appreciation for her unique style and expressions from Brinda Master, Actor Nakkul, and other celebrity judges as well as a contestant on Vijay TV's Dancing Superstars where Sandy Master, DD, and others praised her for bringing international styles and concepts to the Indian stage. Also, she currently assists for Tamil and Malayalam films. 

She completed her BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics & Spanish as well as her MA in Elementary Education.
