Deoria Tal and Chandrashila Trek is a short trek up to the most spellbinding peaks in Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. The first bit of this trekking journey takes one to Deoria Tal where one can relish the charming beauty of its lake standing at the height of 2438m. You can face off with Chaukhamba Peak where one can capture gorgeous views of the Deoria Tal Lake with the reflection of Chaukhamba Peak.
The trail leading to Chopta is enveloped in lush green meadows nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. This trail leads to the Tungnath temple, which stands at 3680m and is regarded the highest Shiva shrine in the world. Apart from the exotic flora and fauna caught along the way, one can also feast their eyes with sights of several majestic peaks namely the Bandarpoonch, Kedar and Chaukhamba. After a kilometer-long walk from Tungnath, arrive at the summit of Chandrashila peak at about 4000m. The spectacle offered here comprising of snow-capped peaks and the undulating valleys surrounding the area make this trek well worth it.
Pick up from Haridwar in the morning (by 7 am latest) and drive to Sari
The ride will entail meandering by the Ganga and Alaknanda Rivers and surpassing the holy towns of Rishikesh, Devprayag and Rudraprayag till you enter the Mandakini valley. Reach Sari by evening and then explore this beautiful village.
Camp here in a lodge for the night.
Day 2: Trek to Deoriatal
After breakfast, we start our days hike to Deoriatal.
From the small bazar strip of Sari village.
Initially the trail is gradual and becomes steeper at later half. There are a few resting points on the turn. Take some rest and enjoy the birds-eye view of Sari and the surrounding valley.
The area is full of bird life, Black Jay, Blue Magpie and varies species of Thrushes are common.
Overnight at Camp
Day 3: Trek down to Sari – Drive to Chopta – 1 hour – Hike around Chopta in the afternoon
After the beautiful view of morning, have breakfast near to lake and back to Sari village. Drive to Chopta. Chopta is one of the place which is so beautiful because you can few lodge and dhabas because it comes under Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary area.
Hike around chopta and enjoy the view of mini Switzerland.
Day 4: Trek to Tunganath – 3.5 Km/ 2 hours – Climb to Chandrashila – 1 hour – Return to Chopta
Start off the day by ascending to the slopes to reach Tungnath temple.
The several hued pastures here along with the beautiful mountains and valleys serving as the backdrop make for a remarkable sight.
Post stacking up on refreshments, resume your trek uphill towards the Chandrashila Peak at 4000m.
From the peak, get enchanted by the peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba. Trek down to the base camp at Chopta and the drive up to the lodge where a hot dinner awaits you. Retire here for the night.
Day 5: Drive from Chopta to Haridwar
Post breakfast, get certificates and badges so that we can make this trip memorable for you.
