Bhimashankar is at a height of approximately 3250 feet surrounded by thick dense forest. Declared by the Maharashtra government Bhimashankar is a small wildlife reserve but over the years has given home to several protected species such as Leopard, Sambhar deer, Barking deer, Porcupine, Wild boar, Langur, and the State animal of Maharastra the Malabar giant squirrel often referred as ‘shekru’ in Marathi.
The total area is
131 sq km and is a part of the Western Ghats (Sahyadri Ranges). This sanctuary
was created in 1984 and includes 9 tribal villages.
After trekking to
the campsite through rivers and streams and dense forest we will reach our
night stay destination. Our campsite is at Yelavali Village surrounded by
Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. We will be staying in a village home-stay and
facing some real adventure.. that includes howling winds and pouring rains from
light showers to heavy downpours.
Our private bus
will do the pick-up in Pune at 7:00 am.
Please carry yourbreakfast along as we will only stop for lunch at noon. We will reach base- village Bhorgiri and get ready to trek to our campsite.
Once we reach the campsite we will rest for some-time and then explore the wilderness around us at the Bhimashankar WLS. We plan to return to our base by 6 pm (before daylight ends).
After dinner wewill spend the night at the homestay Things to Look Forward to:
1. Bhima River crossing
2. Jungle hike
3. Explore waterfalls
4. Games and activities
End of day one.
July 21st
We would wake up early and post breakfast we will take a different route to hike up to the Bhimashankar temple.
This would be a difficult trek going through some of the difficult forest patches and fast flowing streams.
Upon reaching the temple our bus will reach there directly to pick up. Since all of us would be drenched, we will arrange a changing room (tent) to get into something comfortable.
Lunch will be arranged on our way back to Pune. Our ETA for Pune is 9 pm.

Any-one found under the influence of drugs or narcotics will be requested to leave the trip immediately, without any refund.
This is an adventure trip, be prepared to leave your bedroom comforts behind.
Adventure camping and outdoor sports/ recreation is purely for nature lovers and not for party groups; we respect nature and do our best to spread the awareness about wilderness preservation. Kindly observe silence post 11 pm at the campsite.
We like to keep the wildlife wild, please do not litter the forest and the campsite.
