About the Event
Not for the easily offended, Aisi Taisi Democracy is the coming together of three prolific talents telling it like it is. Stand-up comedian and social-satirist Sanjay Rajoura, stand-up comedian, writer and lyricist Varun Grover (of films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Masaan among others), and bass player and vocalist of popular folk-fusion band “Indian Ocean” Rahul Ram, take on everyday India - border relations, elections, politics, et al.

Artist

Part stand-up comedy, part-musical and part-biting diatribe on socio-political issues, Aisi Taisi Democracy is a refreshing satire political/musical act that tells the truth about our times, crafting it in the form of songs and stories. Lead by an illustrious lot, the act features fusion folk band Indian Ocean's bassist and vocalist Rahul Ram, Delhi's angry satirist Sanjay Rajoura and lyricist/comedian Varun Grover. The show is a mixed bag of personal stories, talks about various issues like border relations, elections, politics, et al, and dares to ask some uncomfortable questions while keeping you in splits throughout. Not recommended for those who are easily offended.
Sanjay Rajoura first tried his hand at an open-mic event in 2009 and since then, Sanjay has performed all over India with shows in Pune, Bangalore, Delhi and the NCR. His solo show Jat In Mood was performed at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, in 2010 and his new one act stand up series titled, End the Occupation, recently opened at India Habitat Centre, Delhi.

Comedian and screenwriter, Himachal-born Varun Grover is known for writing the film Masaan, and his lyrical capabilities in popular films like Gangs of Wasseypur (Parts 1 & 2), Udta Punjab, That Girl in Yellow Boots, Dum Laga Ke Haisha. He won the National Award in 2015 for his lyrics in "Moh Moh Ke Dhaage". Known for his sharp wit and political musings, Grover is one part of the music-comedy-political satire trio, Aisi Taisi Democracy, along with Rahul Ram and Sanjay Rajoura. ATD is a mixed bag of personal stories, talks about various issues like border relations, elections, politics, et al, and dares to ask some uncomfortable questions while keeping you in splits throughout.
