Comedian Rhapsody's Open Mic Nights are back!
Head over to MT61 and support new comics as they take the stage for the first time! They also have some experienced comics to keep you entertained through the evening.
Who will be performing this Thursday?
Govind Menon: Like most stand-up artists, he had a troubled childhood. Growing up in the mean streets of Mumbai, the only thing he had going for him was his curly hair. Having recently hit puberty, not much has changed except that instead of his diary, Menon now uses a mic to document the ridiculous events that make up his life. Some of these events also happen to be funny.
Azeem Banatwalla: Azeem is the proverbial jack of all trades, and master of puns. An engineer-turned-writer-turned comedian, he has extensive experience writing for print and digital media, having worked with National Geographic Traveller India and The Man Magazine. As a stand-up artist, he’s one of India’s best. Specialising in intelligent, observational English stand-up comedy, he’s popular on the Indian club circuit with over 150 public shows in 2015. He has two stand-up specials to his name, the first, titled “Out of My System” toured across 13 cities in India, receiving much critical acclaim. His second special “Cometh the Hour” toured across India and Asia over 2016. He has performed all over India and Asia and is in demand as an artist at corporate events and college festivals.
Abbas Momin: Abbas Momin is a freelance humour writer, which means he has no self-respect and lives below the poverty line. He tried his hand at becoming a doctor (which is often believed to be the reason behind the dwindling fortunes of the medical fraternity) but was left with a lot of depression and low self-esteem, which made him realise he’s perfect to be a stand-up comedian.
He has performed at renowned venues like The Canvas Laugh Club, Blue Frog and NCPA in Mumbai and has been a part of the line up at the Weirdass Pajama Festival and the Masala Mayhem Comedy Festival in Hyderabad.
Ameya Deshpande: Relatively new to the comedy circuit, Ameya is one of the youngest and funniest comics you need to watch out for!
