Amber Kuti Smith:

Amber Kuti is lead vocalist in the popular London based original funk band Galactic Funk Militia. She has been described as “a fabulous singer whose voice transcends the boundary between classic and neo-soul” (The Funk and Soul Revue) and as having “a soulful tone that takes the funk into the stratosphere” (The Buzz Magazine). Inspired by artists like Nina Simone, Laura Mvula, Chaka Khan, Amy Winehouse and Jill Scott, Amber excels in both lead and backing vocal roles.

Amber has substantial international performance experience, having worked in the UK, Denmark, Brazil, and Nepal and has a BA degree in Popular Music and Performance (University of Chester).

The Band:

This collaboration follows on from Karan Khosla and Amber Kuti Smith’s collaborations in Nepal, organised by the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory in 2015.

Aman Mahajan (Keyboard): A graduate of Berklee College of Music (Boston), Mahajan is presently based out of Bangalore, India, where he leads original improvised music ensemble Refuge. His music is influenced by traditional and contemporary music from around the world, and deeply inspired by a sense of unity and connection. Mahajan is also a music teacher, and held a faculty position at the Global Music Institute, New Delhi in 2015.

Karan Khosla (Guitar):

Karan is a classically trained guitar player with a strong love for playing bebop, blues and good old rock and roll. Karan has played in well over a hundred performances across India as a session guitar player since 2014, and regularly spends his time on-stage with acts such as Mr. Mawkin’s Rockabilly Revival, BollyJazz, The NuDeli Rhythm Section and others. As a songwriter, Karan has written songs such as “Constitution of Love” for the acclaimed alternative rock band The Limited Experience, whose video can be found on MTV - and more recently - the song “New Nights” for the band The Star Shiners featured on BalconyTV.

Aveleon Giles Vaz (Drums):

One of India’s top session drummers, a versatile musician with a trained background in percussion, Avoleon is a first call for many of North India’s top acts, from Shadow and Light, to the CopyCats, Advaita and many other bands.

Harshit “Hashbass” Misra (Bass):

Harshit is an in-demand bassist and a TC Electronic supported artist. Harshit is a graduate of the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles. Harshit, aka “Hashbass”, is the winner of the 2014 Outstanding Student Award at MI, which saw him become a faculty member. During his 7 years as a session player he's been fortunate to play with acts like Candice Glover (American Idol Winner), Wayne Brady, Girl Radical and Grammy Award winner, Jackie Boyz
