A live theatre where the characters, plot and dialogues of a scene or a story are all made up in the moment with some suggestions from the audience is what Improv Comedy is. Now that we are clear on it, let’s get you excited about The Etceteras who will be performing Improv Comedy every Wednesday. Your mid-week blues are surely about to take a turn as you not only watch an act, but also become a part of it.
Artists Info:
Jeeya Sethi: Jeeya believes if you are fat once (by fat she means FAAAAT) you are fat forever, mentally you never become thin even after losing all the weight. An event manager turned stand-up comedian, improviser and actor, she has made entertainment her new life's mission since nothing else is going for her!
Navin Noronha: Navin Norohna is an amply likeable guy who tries very hard to be a badass. To live by his motto of 'Live Fast, Die Poor', Navin has taken up writing as a profession. He also does stand-up because it fits so well into the underpaid artist routine. He is pretty good at it though, so if you find yourself cracking up, it may not be entirely incidental. Being a Bombay boy, Navin's material covers wide ground from liberalism and pigeons to evil bosses and Jesus. And did we mention that he is an engineer by qualification? Well, who isn't?
Kabir Chandra: Sales head for one of the country's leading music labels, Kabir also has been a radio jockey in his past avatars and responsible for honing some of India's very best on-air talent. He has been a theatre artist since his teens and a college stage sensation having won multiple awards for street plays from a early age. He is now among the most emerging voices in stand up comedy in the city and a seasoned improviser.
Kaavya Bector: Kaavya Bector is a theatre actress who is best known for her work in the play The Guest Room. She is also a part of the improv group The Etcetras who perform both in Hindi and English and have already performed to sold out venues and left the crowd in stitches.
Govind Menon: Govind Menon, like most stand-up artists had a troubled childhood. Growing up on the mean streets of Mira Road, the only thing he had going for him was his curly hair. Having recently hit puberty, not much has changed except that instead of his diary, Menon now uses a mic to document the ridiculous events that make up his life. Some of these events also happen to be funny. Popularly known as poor man`s Kanan Gill, Menon is now realizing that most poor people do not know Kanan. So he is making a serious effort to actually be funny. You are invited to see the progress for yourself.
Sriraam Padmanabhan: Currently attempting his third sabbatical, his second graduation and his first coming of age, Sriraam Padnamaban often finds it difficult to distinguish between plain wisdom and outright BS. He has a thing for long sentences, short stories and English Breakfast Tea. Most of this is understandable when you consider that he was born and brought up in the Mecca of creativity, Chedda Nagar. Sriraam pulls off the homeless guy look gracefully and his stand-up is known for erring on the side of wit. Ever the humble character, Siraam claims he does stand-up because he is too lazy to pursue anything else. The truth is he could easily cut it as a newsreader or an insurance salesman. But he refuses such work on principle. 4 things he likes the most in life are: 1. Incomplete Lists.
Prashasti Singh: Prashasti Singh, works in the corporate world as a marketing manager and lets go of all that when she is on stage! She recently won FemaPalooza and COME Grand Slam #4. A girl from a small town, living the dream of the big city, looking for the dreamy part.
