Upon arrival at Chandigarh/Delhi Airport / Railway board Volvo bus for Manali. Overnight at Manali.
DAY 01: MANALI TO SARCHU (222 Kms)
Start your journey to Leh, stopping at Sarchu for the night. Cross Rohtang Pass (3978 m), Keylong (3350 m), Baralacha Pass (4890m) with overnight stopover at Sarchu (4253 m), border of the states of Himachal Pradesh (Lahaul) and Jammu & Kashmir (Ladakh). Upon arrival in Sarchu, check in at the campsite for overnight stay. You'll be staying in tents!
DAY 02: SARCHU TO LEH (255 KMS)
Leave for Leh by early morning, through Nakeela and Lachangla Pass 16,617 ft. Lunch at Pang. After Lunch drive to Leh passing through Skyangchu Thang (Biggest and Highest Plateau on Earth on Stretch of 42 Kms), Taklang La Pass 17,5856ft(2nd highest motorable road in the worls) and Indus Valley. Upon arrival in Leh you’ll be met by their representative and check in at the hotel. Overnight stay in hotel.
DAY 03: ARRIVE LEH.
Those who wish to travel to Leh via Flight can reach Leh on Day 3 of the trip. Arrival Leh Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport one of the world's highest operated airport at 3500 mtr above sea level . On a clear day, from one side of the aircraft can be seen in the distance the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum and on the other side of the aircraft, so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun in Zanskar valley. Upon arrival you will be met by their representative and will be transferred to hotel for check in. Rest for the day and acclimatize followed by tea or coffee at the Hotel. In the evening, visit Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa & Leh Market. Overnight stay at Hotel.
DAY 04: LEH - EXCURSION TO SHAM VALLEY (35- 40 KMS One Way 4-5HRS)
After breakfast drive towards the western part of Ladakh along the Indus river on Leh – Srinagar highway. Start sightseeing with Hall of Fame (Museum founded by India Army) near Leh, which is worth a visit for every Indian, and proceed further to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib founded in 15th century, nestled deep in the Himalayas. Drive ahead another 5 km for Magnetic Hill which defies the law of gravity & further drive through a picturesque landscape to reach the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar river. After visiting these, drive back to Leh, enroute visiting Spituk Monastery, built in 11th Century during the region of Gragspa. ‘Bum-lde', the monastery use to follow Kadampa school of Buddhism until 15th century where Gelukpa school of Buddhism was started and still in practice with Gelukpa order. Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.
DAY 05: LEH–NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNG LA 18,380 FT. (120 KMS / 4 – 5 HRS)
After breakfast drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (highest motorable road in the world) at 5,602 Mtrs / 18,380 ft, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way to south over the Indus valley, the seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers and is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level.
Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our Camp / Hotel in Hunder for Overnight stay. In the evening you can walk around the tiny villages to see how the locals live in this part of the world. A visit to a Ladakhi home can be arranged. Overnight Stay at the Camp or Hotel.
DAY 06: NUBRA VALLEY – LEH (120 KMS / 4 – 5 HRS)
After an early breakfast check out from the camp and drive to Hunder where you have an opportunity to ride on a bactrian camel (double humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high altitude desert with snow capped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit you can witness the beauty of the sand dunes along the road. If seen in isolation, one would believe that they are in the midst of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. It is indeed a strange sight since immediately on the left of the road are rocky mountains that characterize the Ladakhi landscape and in the distance can be seen snow-capped mountains. On return, stop at Diskit which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. Stroll around the bazaar and observe the daily lives of the locals there! Diskit is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley.
Later drive back to Leh in the late afternoon via Khardungla Top. On arrival at Leh you will check in to your hotel. In the afternoon you can rest and relax and the evening can be spent strolling around the market place for some souvenir shopping.
DAY 07: LEH TO PANGONG LAKE – 13,930 FT. (160 KMS / 4 - 5 HRS – ONE WAY)
This will be a full day trip. After early morning breakfast leave for Pangong Lake, enroute visit Thiksey and attend the morning pooja, where one can see the monks on their daily routine through Changla pass (17,586 ft) world third highest motorable road in the world. After 2 hrs of drive reach Changla pass, stop for a short period for photography. Drive ascending towards Pangong, reach Tangtse where you can relax for a cup of tea/ coffee. Leave Tangtse for Pangong, on your journey you'll pass through few small villages of Changthang and finally you'll be able to see Pangong lake situated at 13,930 feet. This famous high altitude Lake of Pangong is 5- 8Kms wide and over 140 Kms long with 30 % in India and 70% in China. This large serene lake forms a brilliant color variation including deep blue, dark green, turquoise,etc. After spending some time at lake drive back to Leh via same route. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 08: PANGONG LAKE TO LEH (180 KMS / 5-7 HRS)
Start the morning leisurely to explore the beauty of the lake and later drive back to Leh, enroute visit Hemis monastery, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyut Order of Tibetan Buddhism. Drive further to Leh and check in at our hotel for Overnight
In the evening you can stroll around the market place for some last minute souvenir shopping.
DAY 09: DEPART LEH (FLY OUT).
After early morning breakfast transfer to Domestic Airport to catch the flight for your destination.
Assistance upon arrival at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport or Manali,
Traditional welcome in the Hotel with Welcome Drink (Hot Tea/Coffee /Kahwa) on arrival
