John Wubbenhorst is truly a World musician having grown up with western classical music and western jazz on flute. Then in his teens he became deeply involved in classical Indian music culminating with decades of instruction with Maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia. John has played with many greats East. and West and is the leader of the East/West group "Facing East" which feature his original compositions that reflect his eclectic background. This program will feature some traditional Indian Ragas as well as some of John's unique originals.
John will be accompanied by Rishabh Dhar on percussion playing the traditional packhawaj that is based in the ancient "Dhrupad" style of Indian music. Rishabh is unique in also playing this instrument in the modern "Khyal" tradition as well as other world music influences.

John Wubbenhorst
(Flautist)
John Wubbenhorst is an eclectic world music pioneer mastering both the western flute and the bansuri (North Indian Bamboo flute). John’s decades of instruction from Hariprasad Chaurasia and many years’ experiences with western greats such as Paul Horn, Jack DeJohnette, Victor Wooten and others have made him a unique force on the world music scene. John is also a noted composer and the founder of the “Facing East Music” group. John’s training also includes 2 degrees in World music for the Rotterdam Conservatorium in the Netherlands and John has been a music director for the worldwide Adidam yoga ashram.
Rishabh Dhar
(Pakhawaj Exponent, Percussionist, Innovator & Composer)
Having born into a reputed musical family of Kolkata, Rishabhwas strongly influenced by various forms of Indian classical music from childhood. Since the age of 3, he started learning " Pakhawaj ", one of the oldest and most exciting and versatile North Indian Classical percussion instruments ever, under the guidance of Pandit.Rajib Lochon Dey & Pandit.Apurba lal Manna(of LalaKebal Kishan Gharana),Pandit .Vittal Das Gujrati and Pandit.Manik Munde(of Nana Sahab Panse Gharana). He also studied the South Indian Ghatam & Konnakol(speaking the rhythm) under the guidance of Pandit. S.Shekhar.
He has been working regularly as a composer & producer in the television & film industry since 2010 as well. He composed festival theme music for ABP Ananda Utsav(London,New Jersey)2011,Bangla Sangeet Purashkar 2011 & 2012(Film Festival Awards).
He did my first directorial debut as a music director for Mega Series “Swangsiddha” for ETV Bangla television channel in 2012 in India.
Rishabh Dhar’s Fingerprints has performed in many festivals in the world including performances at the following major festivals:
