Every four years, the world’s best hockey teams come together - in a quest to be crowned the greatest in the world, the champions.

This time around, these teams and these men are making their way to Odisha, India to take part in what is Hockey’s most prestigious competition - the World Cup.

The 2023 Hockey Men’s World Cup will be hosted at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.

Matches will be played in the newly constructed Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, and in the iconic Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar, where so many wonderful pages of hockey’s history have been written.

A quick recap of the 2018 FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup

The 2018 edition of the FIH Hockey World Cup was also held in India.

Belgium defeated the Netherlands in the final (3-2 on Penalty Shoot-out) to be crowned World Champions.

At the last edition of the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in 2018, Manpreet Singh-led India topped the group stage with two wins and a 2-2 draw against eventual champions Belgium. However, India suffered a narrow 2-1 loss against the Netherlands in the quarterfinals after leading 1-0 at halftime.

India will kick off their bid to be crowned World Champions, for the second
time in their history, on 13th January 2023 against Spain at the Birsa Munda
Hockey Stadium, Rourkela.
