Harkat Studios invites you to a screening for Five Films for Freedom, a global short film programme hosted by the British Council and BFI Flare in support of LGBTIQ+ rights.
The British Council in India partners with The Queer Muslim Project – South Asia’s largest virtual network of queer, Muslim, and allied individuals – to celebrate and amplify LGBTIQ+ stories and voices as part of Five Films for Freedom 2021.
Every year, the British Council and BFI Flare handpick five LGBTIQ+ themed short films, and make them available for audiences across the world to watch online for free.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with Varsha Panicker, who directed the film "Bodies of Desire". They will be joined by Bonita Rajpurohit, who was Miss Trans Queen India 2019 2nd Runner Up, a model and an entrepreneur, and Doel Rakshit, a writer and performer who prefers telling stories before stories tell her.
This will be the first screening that we will host since the pandemic. Seats will be limited and we will follow Covid-19 protocols. The films and the conversations will also be streamed live on our Interactive Platform, for online audiences.
The event is free! Please RSVP on the link above!
