Food forests help provide fresh local food, attract pollinators and protect biodiversity. They typically include fruit-bearing trees, shrubs, plants, etc which mimic a forest ecosystem and grow organically with out any fertilisers.

Join The Turning Tide team for a morning immersed in nature and enjoy a fruitful volunteering experience at the food forest.

How can volunteers help?:

Bring us your best intentions, ideas and funny bones and help us plant trees, compost, mulch, gather biomass in order to help restore the green canopy which we've lost. There's no task too big or small when we do the right thing.

Meet the Team:

The Turning Tide is an environment group in Mumbai that comprises of passionate volunteers that come together to help create green havens in the city. George Remedios, an avid nature lover founded the project in 2015. It started with him collecting newspapers from friends and family for recycling and using the money to buy saplings. The team began planting trees over 4 years ago and discovered in the process that Food Forests are a complete solution.

Things to keep in mind:

• Activities include outdoor farm activities, so be prepared to get your hands dirty
• Wear comfortable clothes
• Carry your water bottle along and some snacks if you like
• Carry sunscreen and a cap if you need
• Carry an insect repellent
• Come with an open mind :)
