Who's playing, and how?
This association football tournament has teams from four nations participating:- India, Tajikistan, Syria and DPR Korea. They will face each other in a round-robin phase with six matches, and the top two will play against each other in the finals.
On the Indian team, the Blue Tigers, you can watch captain Sunil Chhetri in action. He overtook Lionel Messi as second highest active international goalscorer, and if you've not already watched the record-breaking footballer play live, it's about time you did! This year at the Hero Intercontinental Cup, you can also catch the prodigal young Amarjit Singh. The captain of India's U17 World Cup team, he made it all the way into India's national squad at just 18. If you've watched the Hero I-League, you'll know how crucial he was to the Indian Arrows the past two seasons. Look forward to midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad, who was absolutely raved about for his performance in Kerala Blasters. He played a key role in India's victory at King's Cup, Thailand too! Chhetri himself has described him as the next big thing. You'll also get to see Sandesh Jhingan's legendary defending skills (he's even thrown himself in the air to block fierce shots). Everyone's hyped up about India's new attacking style of football under coach Igor Stimac.
