What can a storyteller offer a museum? Interpreting historic buildings, events, artifacts and works of art imaginatively can engage families and school students as well as adults. Both present and online visitors learn and benefit from history-based in-role storytelling, tales from the world's oral cultures and intercultural story exchanges.

This session will feature specific examples of David Heathfield's work as a storyteller in museums and historic sites in Devon, UK and, of course, he will tell you stories.

About Facilitator:

David Heathfield is an international storyteller based in Exeter, UK. He teaches English, runs training workshops for teachers and tells stories from the world’s oral cultures. He works in schools, universities, museums, community settings, nature reserves and online. He runs online Creative and Engaging Storytelling for Teachers (CrEST) courses and has worked as an online storytelling teacher trainer internationally with the British Council, the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) and the Hands Up Project.

He writes about creativity in language learning and is the author of the books Spontaneous Speaking and Storytelling with our Students (both DELTA Publishing) as well as the series Student Stories for English Teaching Professional and World Stories for IATEFL Voices.
