About the Event
The idea behind this program is simple: It‘s a natural setting where you discover inspiration, embraces your creative side, and unleash the inner artist within you while getting away from the daily grind.
A 10-day-long residential program named Improvised Bodies,- Movement and Multidisciplinary Residency, works with the straightforward tenet that each individual is creative. The creative process would begin with understanding your innate primal movements and slowly easing into the body, finding the mind-body to become playful, impetuous, and expressive. While Multidisciplinary practices would take you through the depths of your mind and character, giving a deeper perspective of self. As a part of the creative journey, we will be working on a small art film at the end of the program as a community. Movement and Multidisciplinary practise teaches you patience, empathy, accepting changes, exploring, enhancing team dynamics, and experimenting.
It’s also an opportunity to befriend other art enthusiasts and people from different walks of life, connect with a community, learn a new skill, stay at a gorgeous location, and experience coastal virbant culture.
The scenic beaches, the pristine weather, the sound of the waves aid this artistic and individualistic journey. A skilled group of artists and facilitators puts the program together. Starting from 12th-21st Dec 2023. We have room for 15 participants. In this program, you will learn several techniques from the movement and theatre world, which will work in developing a stronger bond with yourself and others.
This course is an open, inclusive program. One needs no prior experience in any of these artistic practices.
Movement and Multidisciplinary practices are about the flow, directly reflecting our mental health. It puts us in a reflective state and gives us time to recharge and replenish our creative spirit.
The focus on creativity, artistic voice, and the integration of various disciplines such as movement, physical theatre, and theatrical techniques aligns well with the goals of nurturing artistic growth and exploration.
Somatic experience, improvisational tools, and breathwork are core elements of the Residency, further adding value to the experience. These practices enhance participants' embodiment, self-awareness, and expressive abilities, fostering a deeper connection with their artistry and self.
Improvisation encourages spontaneity, creativity, and the exploration of the present moment. By incorporating these tools, participants can tap into their intuition, expand their expressive range, and discover new possibilities within themselves.
The emphasis on breathwork is a core element of the Residency. Conscious breathwork helps in grounding and centering oneself and serves as a bridge between the body, mind, and emotions. There is no other medium better than connecting with our mind and body. The unison of the two teaches patience, empathy, accepting changes, exploring, and experimenting.
This is more than a Dance or an Artist Residency. It is an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, unleash creativity, befriend other art enthusiasts like you, connect with a community, learn a new skill, stay at a gorgeous location, and experience local artistic and coastal culture.
The program creates a safe space for people to be seen, heard, and experience their innate, raw, and authentic expression. It operates under the belief that each person can express themselves. The program's primary focus is to help individuals understand themselves through their bodies and encourage them to make their bodies expressive, impulsive, playful, and soulfully connecting with their minds. Participants can explore untold stories and experiences within them by connecting and reconnecting with their bodies and breath work.
While self-awareness is typically seen as individualistic, the program emphasizes bringing mindfulness into the world with these artistic practices. It seeks to gain insights into the overall and holistic well-being of the community.
It adopts a production-oriented outlook, allowing participants to create an abstract art film based on their experiences throughout the program. This film serves as a means for individuals to revisit their own stories and experiences, fostering a sense of belonging to a community.
