Introduction to Trekking to Nakhind
“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.”― Jack Kerouac
This monsoon season CarvanTrips would like to share this beauty of trekking with everyone, and that is the reason we have tailored few lovely easy level introductory treks suitable to be taken up by both old and young. Come join us as we get ready in our hiking shoes, all set to tick off these trekking destinations off our bucket list.
Nakhind Trek in Matheran Range is one of the few scenic treks which is close to the city, yet secluded.
Not frequently visited, the charm of being one of the few to have experienced this trek in its full monsoon glory, along with the commanding views from the top and the roaring winds, is guaranteed to leave you mesmerized. The summit, which takes about 2 hours to reach, has a unique structure, a hole (“Nakhind”) in the dilapidated fort, due to which the wind sometimes makes a whistling sound! It is a beautiful feeling to sit inside this natural phenomenon and enjoy the lush green mountains and landscapes of Matheran. What’s more is that your trek ends with a small gushing waterfall where you can laze and de-stress after the long tiring journey.
Maharashtra, is blessed with the beautiful ranges of the Sahyadris. The UNESCO declared world heritage site is rich in both Flora and Fauna. After the onset of the monsoons, the sight becomes truly breathtaking, the moist canopies make room for the winds to hurl in, and the opening to the valleys and forts gets covered by wild flowers, clouds descend to the surface to blanket the earth. The freshness in the atmosphere almost guts you to realization that sometimes it is necessary to escape from our concrete confined walls, out trekking in the lap of nature’s unperturbed beauty still untouched by man.
