Introduction To Weaving - For Children by Julie Kagti
A beginners workshop for children that teaches basic weaving methods, that are easy to learn and adapt. Julie Kagti uses her experience gained from working with various types of hand looms, to provide techniques and encourage learners to explore material, shapes and colours. She aims to encourage her students to start their own explorations with weaving and imbibe a sense of appreciation for this ancient craft that is a rich part of the Indian heritage. Julie learnt weaving at a young age watching her grandmother weave on a back strap loom that was commonly used in many households in The North Eastof India. She went on to do a diploma in textile design specializing inweaving. She has spent over two decades working in the textile industry.
