NorthEast United FC: About the team
The only team in the competition represented by an entire region rather than a single city, and for good reason. The football-mad and unbelievably talented North East of India got its own club and the promise that it will focus on development, grassroots and talent identification for its first team from the 8 states themselves. While results have been mixed in the last 4 years, the club and its philosophy have stayed largely intact. They have failed to progress to the semi-finals so far but with long term strategies in place, a youthful, attacking setup and a few tactical tweaks could turn things around in the 2018-19 ISL season. If they do manage to do so, they could provide the perfect blueprint for other clubs on how to be prudent yet effective without sacrificing results!

- A bright spark in a disappointing season for the Highlanders was an impressive 3-1 win over eventual champions Chennaiyin FC. A fantastic hattrick from Seminlen Doungel made sure of the three points and it was as good a performance from them as their fans had ever seen. Relive it here!
- With 5 goals, Nico Velez topped NorthEast United’s goal scoring charts in 2015. Here’s a look at some of his and the team’s best goals in that season in which they finished a credible 5th.
