About the Event

Tabla Wizard Pandit Chatur Lal Memorial Society presents Jagruti - an interactive series with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee & Kathak Guru Geetanjali Lal. Join in with this master class cum mini concert with the Maestra herself.


In the session she will share an interesting learnings on basic movements of kathak dance; body postures; ‘thaat’ & ‘uthaan’ of Jaipur gharana; technical compositions – thudka, paran, tihai; the gat nikhaas (the gait of dancer ) and ‘Kavit’ – speciality of Jaipur gharana followed with footwork and a mini concert.


An initiative by Pandit Chatur Lal Festival celebrating its 30 glorious years in promotion of Indian culture. Its curated & conceptualized by Shruti & Pranshu Chatur Lal dedicated to Tabla Wizard Pandit Chatur Lal.


About Guru Geetanjali Lal

Performing for the last three decades in all the major national and international dance festivals, she has received various accolades for her brilliant solo exposition of Jaipur Gharana and her group choreographic works where she has also scored the music. With her impressive stage presence, her performances bring the beauty of the Mughal and Rajput paintings to life. Her lyrical renderings of expressional numbers have an aesthetic appeal that leaves a lingering effect. Based in Delhi, she is a founder & Artistic Director pf Devi Durga Kathak Sansthan. She has trained several students and among them, her son Abhimanyu Lal and daughter-in-law Vidha Lal have earned the reputation of being brilliant Kathak exponents. Geetanjali has been awarded the title of "Nritya Sharada", "Natya Kala Shree", "Bharat Gaurav", "Kala Shiromani" and "Kalpana Chawla Award" for excellence for her contribution in the field of Kathak dance.
