EK BAAR KI BAAT HAI
Celebrating Hindustani Literature!
Solo Performances of Short Stories
'LAMBI LADKI’
A poignant and amusing ordeal of a doting grandmother whose granddaughter’s abnormal height looms over her impending marriage and life.
Rajinder Singh Bedi (1 September 1915 – 11 November 1984) wrote of lives that were commonplace but hidden in their very ordinariness, the human spirit shone through in all its lustre and brilliance. His gift for finding the inner meaning in outer reality, took Bedi into the realms of suggestion, symbolism, metaphor & allusion.
'APNE DESH KE LOG'
After phones and cities, it's time to make our citizens smart, too. 'Sabka Saath, Apna Vikas' is the motto of this Kafkaesque office where discipline & development go hand in glove.
Kamleshwar (6 Jan 1932 – 27 Jan 2007) depicted the trials and tribulations of a fast changing society, groping for new values in the face of the collapse of the old value system. True human sensitivity, his works demonstrate, is the antithesis of the sense of alienation that characterizes today's metropolis.
'CHUIMUI'
She is on the train and is carrying the most precious cargo herself. Her future is in her womb - literally & figuratively. This is the third pregnancy & this time she must deliver!
Ismat Chughtai (21 July 1915 - 25 October 1991), one of India’s most accomplished fiction writers, epitomised the 20th-century women writers of Urdu: enlightened, bold, iconoclastic, progressive and feminist. Chughtai’s flowing and spontaneous style, occasionally peppered with satirical or witty remarks, makes reading a delight.
