Join us for a special summer heritage walk centred around the captivating tradition of Kabootar-baazi. This walk led by Tokeer Ahmed is curated for enthusiasts to offer a peek into the world and art of pigeon keepers, and the surrounding cultural ecology thriving in the by-lanes of the pre-Mughal era. You'll engage in immersive experiences, including a Baithak session with the renowned historian Rana Safvi at Changezi's home, followed by complementary purani-dilli signature light snacks. This unique walk-cum-baithak promises an enriching journey through history, culture, and tradition.
What to expect:
The immersive walk will explore the art and world of pigeon-keepers from the pre-Mughal era. The theme of this walk is the pre-Shahjahanabad period, offering a deep dive into the culture, food, and people of the era and finding traces of continuity. Traditional refreshments of Baaqirkhani and Kheer will be served towards the culmination of the walk.

Facilitators:
Rana Safvi is an eminent Indian columnist, writer, and historian based in Delhi. She has authored ten books, including "In Search of the Divine" and "The Forgotten Cities of Delhi." Her insightful writings have graced esteemed publications, and her knowledge has even been featured in popular TV shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati. Rana's deep understanding of Delhi's history and culture makes her an invaluable guide for this heritage walk.
Tokeer Ahmed is a Corporate Leader whose passion for Delhi's rich heritage is an integral part of his identity. As a representative of the Qissa Go (Story Teller) Community within Purani Dilli Walo Ki Baatein, Tokeer is not only a corporate professional but also a heritage enthusiast. His knowledge spans Mughal history, art, architecture, and politics, making him an advocate for Delhi's cultural legacy.
