About the Event

Animals and Birds have always been adored by Indian artisans. One can consider it true for the fact, that designs of elephants, camels, flamingos, peacocks, and more are being traced, carved, or digitally printed for thousands of years now. Join us for a Kalamkari Workshop where we will take a deep dive into the art of drawing animals through Kalamkari.


The course will be conducted in two sessions (one and a half hours per session) on Zoom.



The class will be taught in Hindi.

What Do You Learn


Day 1


3 Borders

4 Buttis

Pencil sketches for 3 different Animals – Deer, Elephant and Horse – Just pencil outlines. (this will help you to learn the basic drawing techniques of drawing Animals in Kalamkari style)

Treating (Dyeing) the paper using Natural Ingredient.

Day 2 homework.

List of Material Needed


4 Sheets – Basic Drawing Paper or any Paper available

Pencil

Eraser

Pen – Pigment pen, Micro-tip pen, Ball pen, Markers or a Sketch pen. If none of the above are available you can use any pen which is available at home.

A red colour pen, marker or paint which is available

Coffee powder


Date: 25th and 26th July 2020 on Zoom

Time: 11:00 am to 12.30 pm (It will be a one and a half hours class per day)

Fees: ₹1200/-

We try and plan a subject which can give you the maximum insight into the Art form. The pictures we put on the posts are actually for you to understand what you can do after attending the workshop.


*We are more than happy to teach. Please note if time permits, we will answer all your queries during the class or try to email them to you.


*Sometimes there are unavoidable network issues from the conductor’s end, and more often than not, these are due to some inherent issues with the Zoom app. We would greatly appreciate your patience in such conditions.
