Description:
Wandering in the mountains, on the slopes that give life and are home to many lives and sitting back across the sub-tropical pine forests, green lush carpets, snow-capped mountains and witnessing the lake with the reflection of the starts and the moon. The melting snow that flows in the lake is one of the sources of the Kareri Lake. This is somewhat an experience of the Kareri Lake, the lake with utmost beauty. This lake is a shallow lake and is a fresh water lake. This frozen beauty is beyond your imagination.
Kareri Lake is a dream destination which is a trail to rocky grassland, pines and shrubs. With a vast number of birds, this trek brings you more close to nature with the chirping of birds. If you love bird watching then let us tell you that the Kareri Lake Trek is an endless treasure trove of large number of species of birds and it is the perfect destination for the shutterbugs as there are huge number of bird species that hide in the pines and shrubs which is a perfect location for these unique species of birds. You may even spot the Blue Magpie! The trail also goes through the Nyung Nallah which is a treat for the eye during the trek. Once you reach the Kareri Lake, you can see the breath taking views of the Dhauladhars, Indrahara Pass, Mun Peak.

About the Place:
This untouched lake is situated at 2934 metres above the sea level at 9 km North West of Dharamsala in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. This lake is a shallow lake and is a fresh water lake. Also known as one of the best trekking destinations in the Dhauladhars, the Kareri Lake is frozen from the month of December to the month of April.
There is a lot to see at the Kareri Lake. You will also see a temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva which is nestled on a hilltop when you look from the Kareri Lake. While trekking to this sublime beauty you will come across the Chir and Chilgoza pines, with number of bird species.
At the other side of the Kareri Lake you will see the Gaddi Kothis which is an area or a grazing ground for cattle. Kareri Lake is a base for other treks and for trekking further into the Dhauladhar and to Chamba and Bharmour via the Minkiani Pass (4250m) and Baleni Pass (3710m).
The Kareri Lake gives a scenic view as it is surrounded by mountains and Alpine trees and gushing streams making its way through the green meadows. Even the villages here are worth visiting as their located in nature away from the city noise and pollution. The trek is challenging and filled with adventure as there is not just one path but a various terrains to this trek. You will be trekking on plain roads or crossing from a beautiful wooden bridge built on a gushing river.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Travel Trikon is glad to meet you!
Meet the Travel Trikon Team in Delhi at Manju Ka Tilla. As we at Travel Trikon have arranged everything for you beforehand, within no time our representative guide you to the base point of the Trek/ Hotel.
Day 2 –. Bhagsu Waterfalls, Dalai Lama Monastery and the Gallu Devi Temple.
You will reach Mcleodganj at approximately 9.30 am and check into the hostel. Trying the mouth-watering food at the café is a must do thing on the list for today. Sipping a hot mug of coffee while reading a book is a pleasant thought for a traveller. At the cafe you can have your scrumptious breakfast and do not forget to check the library. Now it is time for some exciting local sightseeing with our Travel Trikon expert. You will visit the enormous Bhagsu Waterfalls for a pleasant view. After this, it is time to connect with yourself as you will greeted by peace at the Dalai Lama Monastery and the Gallu Devi Temple.
We return back to a beautiful bonfire night. You can share your experience of the day of just sit back enjoying the moment. Gorge on some hot and fresh vegetarian meal for dinner and then rest for the day.
Day 3 – Reach Reoti Campsite and set a tent all by yourself!
Good Morning Trikoners!
Now that you have selected travelling with Travel Trikon and you do not have to worry about a thing. As our expert trek leader will meet you and guide you soon after the breakfast. Today we start the trek after having a scrumptious breakfast by 9.am. Our expert trek leader will make sure that you board the car to reach the Kareri Village. The kareri Village is the base village of the trek. Gear up as you will start the trek and climb up to the Reoti Campsite. Can you imagine the thrilling view as you are at the height of 8000 Ft? You will get a glimpse of heaven as you will see pure beautiful Pine Forest and green spread lush landscapes and grasslands. If you are lucky enough you may also see the black beauty of the forest - The Balck Drongo Bird. This bird is very popular here. Now we reach the Reoti Campsite and rest.
No it is time for some exciting camping over here. Travel Trikon’s experienced trek leader will guide you to set up your camps. Trust us, this will be a very interesting task and you will learn a lot from this trek. Our trek leader will not only teach you to set up the camp but you will also be a part of the activities like getting wood form the forest for the bonfire and you will learn the basic survival techniques to survive in the wild.
Now after a whole lot of hard-core thrilling experience it is time for some light fun of games around the bonfire. How about an exciting round of the game named “NEVER HAVE I EVER" –Travel Edition?
As Travel Trikon wants to give you a raw experience of being a traveller, you will learn to do a lot of things together with coordination with your team. Hence bring out the cook in you and now let us cook some delicious vegetarian food for dinner together and then do the dishes and rest for the day.
Day 4 – Gear up as it is time for the climb!
Wake up to another big day today. Greet the splendid views and have your hot breakfast at 9am.
Today we head towards the day you were waiting for – The Kareri Lake. You will spend 2 hours with the off spring of Kareri that is the Nyung Nallah while travelling to the Kareri Lake. You can even drink this water as it is absolutely refreshing and clean.
Now we reach the Kareri Lake. Travel Trikon is sure that you will be enchanted by the views of the Kareri Lake. The lake gives a dreamy effect straight out of a movie scene. Just imagine the melting snow making its way to the lake. You will be camping near the green meadow just close to the Kareri Lake. Sounds interesting? Yes it is! Even today you will be at the bonfire but this won’t be an ordinary one, just imagine yourself camping at a bonfire surrounded by the woods and a lake and of course the stars! Dinner will be served around 8 or 9 pm. Now it is time for some stargazing. Let us not waste a second and lay on the open meadows and watch the twinkling starts.
Day 5 – The Descent and the Goodbyes.
Wake up to a vibrant morning and make the best of the view by admiring the shimmering Kareri Lake. Have a hot breakfast and come back from your frozen dreamy world. Now we reach the Village of Ghera as we pass by a beautiful woodlands and then again go back to Mcleodganj. Let us build memories and clicks memories in the mobile frame and Travel Trikon assures you that these captured golden moments will be sent to you without fail. The trip ends here with a lot of memories for a lifetime.
Day 6
Reach the Delhi Airport/Delhi Station according to your flight timings.

Things to Carry
● A photocopy of your Identity Proof (Passport / Voter ID Card/PAN Card/Aadhar Card/ Driving License)
● Backpack or Haversack – If you are offloading your Haversack, you will need a small daypack to carry your basic essentials
● Good trekking shoes and a pair of slip-ons, if required for campsite
● 2 Water Bottles (1 litre each)
● Woolen or Fleece Gloves and a pair of waterproof gloves
● Cotton socks and woolen socks (2 pairs each)
● Balaclava, Woolen scarf – If you do not have a Balaclava, you can carry Monkey cap instead
● Thermal Inners
● Fleece Jacket, Snow Jacket or Padded Jacket (1 each)
● Windcheater or Poncho
● 2-3 pairs of trek pants
● 2 collared and full sleeved t-shirts – Do not carry loose t-shirts as they tend to make you feel cold
● Camera
● Ready to eat snacks, Enerzyl Powder or Glucon D Powder – Carry nuts, dryfruits, energy bars to munch during the trek. They provide instant energy whenever it hits the lower base.
● Cap, Sunglasses - Do ensure that your sunglasses are UV Protected. Do not carry reflectors.
● Headlamp/LED Torch – Mandatory
● Toiletries – Sunscreen, Moisturizer, light towel, lip balm, wet wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste, Hand Sanitizer, Mosquito repellent, if required
● Polythene Bags or Zip-lock Bags – These help to segregate wet clothes, used wet wipes or sanitary napkins on trek
● Any medicines that you normally consume - Please consult your doctor in this regard
Winter Is Here!
★ Thermal innerwear helps shield against cold.
★ Scarf or mufflers or ear muffs can be of use in windy areas.
★ Balaclava, woollen caps always prove useful.
★ Woollen gloves and socks will help keep hands, feet warm.
★ Moisturizer, sunscreen and lip balm will help prevent sunburn.
