Bangalore audiences are in for a real treat!   

One often asks what is it about “good” music that strikes such a deep chord within us - no matter where it comes from? Exploring answers to this question led accomplished violinist Karthick Iyer to his own creation of a unique style of music, called IndoSoul. Karthick Iyer seeks to inspire you to appreciate music that you might not have sought out on your own. 

IndoSoul strives to represent Indian classical music which has hundreds of years of history and to bring it to the people of today who have been brought up listening to different styles of music. Their aim is to create music that resonates with today’s generation whilst keeping tradition intact. 

The music is unique as it breaks the boundaries of age, genres and labels. It highlights the fundamental commonalities in music from different cultures and varied influences from pop, progressive rock, metal, jazz, and Indian classical percussive styles.  

IndoSoul has been performing for nearly 8 years now. The band had a hugely successful tour of North America in 2018, and returned inspired to create more beautiful music. The band has several compositions to its own name and also performs popular covers interpreted uniquely by the band. They will play songs from their album ‘Looking Within To Look Beyond’, their current compositions and their interpretations of Carnatic standards.  

About the band: 

IndoSoul by Karthick Iyer, is a meeting of minds from different schools of musical thought. Alongside Karthick (electric violin), who has a strong base in Carnatic music, Vikram (guitar), Reshwin (bass), Ramkumar (drums) and Sumesh (S.Indian percussion & Konnakol) bring in varied influences from the pop, progressive rock, metal, jazz, and Indian classical percussion genres. 

Karthick Iyer has been playing violin from the age of 8. He chose to follow his passion for music by giving up on a lucrative career in engineering. He has performed with various artists including A R Rahman, Raghu Dixit, Susheela Raman and Vikku Vinayakaram. Karthick and his band are currently working full time on delivering wonderful music to ears all over the world! 

Sumesh Narayanan, who has a brilliant musical portfolio, has a charming, ever smiling stage presence and plays the Mridangam for the band. His expertise also extends to various percussion instruments such as Cajon, Darbooka. He has played for various artists over the years including Bombay Jayashree, Ronu Majumdar, Abhishek Raghuram and many more.

Vikram Vivekanand is an accomplished guitar player whose style is rooted heavily in blues, classic rock and heavy metal. He has toured extensively with multiple bands and has multiple collaborations over the years with artists such as Usha Uthup, Shantanu Moitra for MTV Coke Studio Harris Jayaraj and Deepak Dev. He is also a founding member of the Chennai Hard Rock band Grey Shack and fronts the band Vik & the Big Fish.

Ramkumar Kanakarajan is a young and brilliant drummer, whose noteworthy collaborations have been with AR Rahman and Sivamani. He not only drums for IndoSoul but also chips in with his extensive knowledge about Indian classical rhythms. In fact, Ram and Sumesh’s jugalbandi during the concerts are absolute fun to watch and hear! Ram is also a part of Chennai Hard Rock band Grey Shack and plays sessions as well.

Reshwin Nishith has been playing bass guitar for almost 10 years now. He brings in the pop and rock elements into IndoSoul’s music. He has had some wonderful collaborations with artists such as Devi Sri Prasad, Suresh Peters, Pragathi Guruprasad and Chinmayi and many more.
