Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri | 220 km | 7 hours | 6,397 feet

Your Kedarkantha Winter Trek commences in Dehradun. Trekkers are required to arrive before 6 AM. By 6:30 AM, you'll embark on a scenic drive to Sankri. The route along National Highway 123 is replete with picturesque valleys and lush forests. As you approach Sankri, the landscape transforms, bringing you closer to the mighty Himalayas. En route, you'll pass through the Govind National Park, known for its unique plant life. Sankri, often called the gateway to the Himalayan paradise for trekkers, offers splendid views of the Himalayan skyline. You'll spend the night in Sankri.

Day 2: Sankri to Juda ka Talab | 4 km | 3-4 hours | 9,100 feet

Your eagerly anticipated trek begins towards Juda ka Talab, nestled at 9,100 feet. The journey begins amidst stunning pine and maple forests, providing various adventures along the way. As you ascend, you'll be captivated by picturesque huts dotting the fields. The enchanting surroundings feature a massive lake to your left and dense pine and oak forests on the other side. This is also where you may spot Himalayan Langurs, as well as boars, hares, and martens. Juda Ka Talab, set amidst the lush pine and oak forest, offers a captivating destination. Enjoy a hot meal at night and rest in camp.

Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base (Lohasu) | 4 km | 4-5 hours | 11,250 feet

Awaken to a stunning sunrise and, after breakfast, proceed on your trek to Kedarkantha Base, situated at 11,250 feet. The journey from Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base should take about 2 to 3 hours. As you progress, the terrain becomes steeper, and you'll receive guidance on handling snow slopes and more. The trail leads through dense forests and steep ridges, ultimately rewarding you with breathtaking views of mountain ranges like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Naag, and Ranglana. Dinner awaits you in your tent.

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base to Summit to Hargaon Camp | 6 km | 6-7 hours | 12,500 feet

Day 4 is a challenging one, as you ascend to the Kedarkantha peak, climbing from 11,250 feet to 12,500 feet over 6 km. The trek becomes notably steeper, but the reward is immense. The magical hues of nature and the vistas of mountain ranges, including Rupin, will mesmerize you. At the summit, you'll be spellbound by the majestic views of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Naag, Gangotri, Yamunotri, and more. The summit also houses a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, along with a shrine of Lord Ganesh. After taking in the grandeur, descend to the Hargaon camp for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Hargaon Camp to Sankri | 6 kilometers | 4-5 hours | 6,397 feet

The morning at Hargaon Camp greets you with a picturesque sunrise among the pine trees. Following breakfast, embark on a descent to Sankri, a straightforward and well-marked pathway that takes about 4 hours.

Day 6: Sankri to Dehradun

On the final day, after breakfast, make your way from Sankri to Dehradun.
