About the Event
‘Keyscapes’ (Bangalore chapter) is a one-of-a-kind western-classical piano recital by Indian pianists Hrisheek Ganesh, Harshal Shukla, Maheedhar Murali and Padmavathy Divakaran - alums of KM Music Conservatory, Chennai.
The concert will feature a diverse piano programme, including works by Chopin, Grieg, Liszt, Balakirev, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Ginastera, Debussy and Ravel. Come join us as we take you on a musical journey around the 19th & 20th century!
‘Keyscapes’ (Bangalore chapter) is an attempt to extend awareness of the exciting and diverse repertoire of western-classical piano to the masses. The young performers showcased, highlight the skill and dexterity of Indian musicians tackling international repertoire for home audiences. This special event is part of a changing tide in global musical excellence by Indian musicians for Indian audiences.
Biographies:
Harshal:
Harshal Shukla is a trained western-classical pianist, composer, arranger, orchestrator and educator currently based in Chennai. In 2017, he graduated from KM Music Conservatory, Chennai obtaining a Diploma of Higher Education in Music with specialization in piano performance. At KM, he was mentored by pianists Brian Clark, Aron Tringali and Dr. Adam Greig. He has also composed and performed for a contemporary ensemble Hundred Foot Road directed by Dr. James Bunch. Later in 2018, Harshal continued his higher education in La Schola Cantorum, Paris where he was mentored by a respected French composer / pianist Michaël Levinas. In 2019, he was offered artistic residency at the french contemporary ensemble Le Balcon conducted by Fondation Singer-Polignac in Paris. Harshal has also been a cultural and communication head for 2 years at Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad where he produced various music concerts, exhibitions, dance performances and digital art festivals featuring artists from France and India.
Hrisheek:
Hrisheek Ganesh is a Classical Pianist and a Progressive metal keyboardist currently based in Chennai. He is a graduate from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow in Piano Performance and KM music Conservatory, Chennai and has been trained under Dr Adam Greig and Mr Fali Pavri. He has played in a variety of ensembles like progressive metal bands, chamber ensembles, ROLI Seaboard ensemble, etc and has been performing regularly since the age of 17. Some of the major projects he has been a part of include Dr. A R Rahman’s Pop-Opera project ‘Sempre Libera’ that performed at the NH7 Weekender in Pune and performing with the ROLI Seaboard ensemble in London. He is currently employed at the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa) where he works as a Content creator, Music Programmer, Arranger, Editor, Orchestrator, Curriculum designer and a piano educator.
Maheedhar:
Maheedhar Murali is a trained Classical pianist, Indian classical Flautist, Composer, Educator and Orchestrator. He was part of a few Chamber, jazz and vocal ensembles. He has finished his Diploma in music performance at KM Music Conservatory in affiliation with Middlesex University, London. At KM he was mentored by Dr. Adam Greig. Maheedhar specialises in understanding and analysing various genres in music. He is currently working on exploring a wide range of instrumental music and regional Indian music for his compositions.
Padmavathy:
Padmavathy Divakaran, an Indian-born Western-Classical pianist and a music educator, is also the founder of Aum Piano Studio (a virtual music education platform) and the head representative of Tamil Nadu for MTB (Music Teachers’ Board), an international music examination board. Her education involves a BA Music (Hons) degree from Middlesex University, London, which she graduated in 2019 with a distinction, and a Diploma in Higher Education - Music from KM College of Music and Technology, Chennai, during which she received a 4.2 lakh worth scholarship from Dr. AR Rahman, as well as the ‘Best Western Music Performer (2015 - 2017)’ award under the tutelage of Ms. Alexandra Miñoza. Some of her major performance experiences include playing Walter Piston’s ‘Concertino for Piano and Chamber Orchestra’ with the London Firebird Orchestra (in London, 2019) and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23 in A major, Mvt.I with Dr. AR Rahman’s Sunshine String Orchestra (in Chennai, 2018). Being a believer in lifelong musical learning, she has also been studying piano with Dr. Adam Greig since 2021.
