Ghazal is one of the most beautiful, intriguing and elegant form of poetry. It not only depicts the beauty of human romance but also translates the most revolutionary thoughts and emotions into words. Today when almost every budding poet is influenced and inspired by Urdu Ghazal It becomes important that they also learn and understand the technicalities behind writing it. 

"Mulaqat: An Introduction to Urdu Ghazal" is one such attempt by Team Kommune. in this interactive, enlightening and engaging two days workshop of Urdu Ghazal you will learn - A brief history of Urdu Ghazal, What is Radeef, Qafiya and Harf e rabi, How to write in meter etc.

Day one – 22nd June – 2 to 5PM

1) Brief history and birth of Ghazal. 

2) Brief note on some beginners such as Amir khusro, Meer, Ghalib etc.

3) Technical terms/basic terminologies in Ghazal and their usage - Radeef, Qafiya, Matla, Maqta, Harf e rabi, Takhallus, Misra, Misra e ula, Misra e saani, Ghazal go, Ghazal goi etc.

4) Types of Ghazal

5) Discussions on Minimum and Maximum number of couplets in a Ghazal.

Day two – 23rd June – 2 to 5PM

1) Understanding Beher/Meter.

2) Why is it important to write in meter.

3) Basic rules behind checking Meter of a Ghazal.

4) Some hacks of writing a Ghazal and bringing newness in couplets.

About the Conductor - 

Swapnil Tiwari - Currently working as a script writer and lyricist in Hindi film industry, Swapnil Tiwari is a very popular and respected Urdu Poet. He has written a few short films, a feature film and some songs for feature films and web series like “Yeh meri family” and “Sonu ke titu ki sweety”. Two collections of his ghazals are published and are best sellers. First collection 'Chaand Dinner par baitha hai' was published in 2016 and it was in both persian and devnagri script. The second collection 'Zindagi ik udaas ladki hai' was published last year in december. A horror novel by Swapnil is soon to be published.
