Berlin based DJ and producer, Label owner of 803 Crystal Grooves, Beste Modus ,Unison Wax, Beste Freunde and we_r house, Fritz Radio Host, Elevate record store owner and proud parent.
Berlin's Cinthie has grown to become one of the most revered and respected figures in contemporary electronic music in recent years both in her hometown and across the globe. Her touring schedule regularly sees her playing her inimitable DJ style in hotspot cities like Paris, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Stockholm, Seoul, Osaka, and of course her beloved hometown Berlin where she was born and raised on the ever flowing current of electronic music coming from the city. Djing in said city since the early nineties as a teenager Cinthie's depth of knowledge radiantly shines through in her sets and her productions, which traverse through a broad range of classic and contemporary House and Techno sounds.
Recent times have seen Cinthie look inwards towards her aspirations for the future, and as a result, dedicated a huge portion of her time to building her own studio, featuring a wide spectrum of some of the most noteworthy vintage drum machines and synthesizers in existence. Along with Diego Krause, Ed Herbst and stevn.aint.leavn, Cinthie represents the Beste Modus / Beste Freunde collective, amongst running Unison Wax and We_R House on top of the main labels and most recently launching her 803 Crystalgrooves imprint to critical acclaim, a platform which will become a huge focus for her own productions for the foreseeable future. On top of this there’s a burgeoning relationship with Will Saul's Aus imprint bubbling away with her debut for the label dropping in November 2018, and she’ll continue curating her weekly radio show Beste Musik on Radio Fritz.
Cinthie has also recently shifted focus towards Elevate Berlin, a label collective, digital and physical record store in the heart of Friedrichshain, a home for all of the label collectives output as well as releases from friends and affiliates.
From being an avid music lover who knew more names of tracks than words to express herself. It’s not often you find a girl that wants to learn to play the drums, but Shayantani C Gupta had to settle for her mum’s singing and dad’s record collection during her teenage years, to get as close to the her musical dreams. Hailing from Kolkata, a city rich in both traditional and western music culture, she moved to Bangalore in 2015 in pursuit of a new job and musical experiences.
She spent the next few years enriching her repertoire working various jobs in the music industry as a curator, artist manager and programmer. Whilst most of her friends working in the music industry always appreciated her music taste coaxing her to DJ, until she realised her potential leading to explore music as a listener, follower, preacher, curator, enthusiast, and finally a DJ. It was in 2018 she enrolled for a DJ course at Beatworx Studio to help fortify her taste and skills putting in hours of essential practice.
Colloquially speaking, her style of music is predominantly Deep House, Techno, Electronica and it’s sub-genres that could be described as groovy, ethnic and intermittently anxious. She finds herself resonating with playfulness aspect of music. All this comes from her own discoveries and influences like BT, Telepopmusik, Daft Punk, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Booka Shade, Justice to Groove Armada, Four Tet, Stavroz, Butch, James Zabiela, Doyeq and Ron Flatter. She feels drawn towards stuff that’s bit untraditional and left field, finding bits of happiness in melancholy, sparking a cerebral reaction when there is a blend of opposing elements crafted tastefully, like a morbid greasy bass line laced with stirring organic atmospheres, creating a sense of content.
Music above all is the sole purpose with which Tanvi began to experiment with a pair of decks and a mixer at home, at an early age 11. Growing up and having listened to a whole array of music ranging from Rock, Metal, Punk, Classical, Electronica and the likes opened her ears up to be able to tell the difference between John Doe and Pink Floyd. After years of practice, she landed her first public performance at 18.
Inclined towards edgy, bold and daunting yet harmonic her DJ sets are a perfectly smooth blend of emotion and versatility. Patrice Bäumel, Anna, Fur Coat, Binaryh, SHFT, Tim Engelhardt and an ever evolving list are some of the artists that Tanvi draws inspiration from.
Notable appearances include performing alongside the likes of Eric Volta, Red Axes, Jim Rivers, James Zabiela, Henry Saiz, etc. and the duly noted performances around India in most cities with a bustling electronic music culture.
