About the Artist Facilitator:
shobha kalantri has been involved in exploration of folk and tribal art and crafts of India from over a decade. During her visit to Kutch in Gujarat, Lippan Kaam commonly known as Mud mirror artwork greatly influenced her to explore this dying art which the artists and artisans in that region have apparently stopped practicing. She learnt the history and how the local artisans and women work during her stay there and has developed a technique of developing this beautiful mural art form on boards and wall. She has been involved in spreading and promoting this art among different part of the country via workshops where people from Urban cities get an opportunity to get acquainted with this fascinating craft, appreciate our rich artistic heritage and try their hands at it.
