Celebrate International Women's Day over Sunday brunch with an all Women Power Band featuring Sherise D’souza on Vocals, Adele on Rhythm Guitar, Minal Vekaria on Drums, Raveena Arora on Keys and Pooja Mazoomdar on Bass at The BlueBop Cafe, 12.30 pm onwards.
Sherise D’souza
Sherise D’souza is one of the most dynamic vocalists in the Indian music scene. Having played at various High-Profile Indian and international venues, and studying vocals with renowned worldwide music stalwarts, she has a deep command of musicianship that defies genres. She also composes and writes her own original music and has recently released her debut album titled 'Dimensions' that is now trending across streaming platforms.
Minal Vekaria
Minal vekaria is one of the few female drummers in India with a powerful drive towards indulging in music of different traditions and cultures, she has performed in several different venues around Mumbai and collaborated with national and international artists. A grade 8 certified performer from Trinity College London who is now pursuing a diploma in music performance is passionate enough to make the audience vibe music.
Raveena Arora
Raveena Arora is a Mumbai based keyboardist who has been playing keyboard and piano for more than 10 years. She seeks inspiration from lo - fi music and a Canadian artist called anomalie beats.
Raveena has grown up with music in her family, she is trained in Indian classical as well as western classical, and rock & pop. She has performed in front of renowned Bollywood artists like Rajesh Roshan and played alongside famous bollywood singers like Jyotika tangri when she was a part of an all female band called IRA.
Adele
Adele is a vocalist and guitarist, and has been playing and singing for the past 3 years.
Pooja Mazoomdar
Pooja Mazoomdar is one of the few female bass players in India.
She did her engineering in Biomedical from Mumbai.After working for 4 years she quit her job and made Music as a full time career from June 2016. Trained in Hindustani classical singing and the Harmonium from the age of 7. She was always inclined towards instruments more. She is a self taught guitar player. Her major influences have been Steve Harris from Iron Maiden, Sting, RD Burman, KK, Lesle Lewis, Ram Sampath, Michael Jackson,Flea, Amit Trivedi, AR Rahman etc
She has played the Bass live for renowned artists like:
Lesle Lewis, Sona Mohapatra ,Anushka Manchanda, Akriti Kakar and sisters and various indie artists. She has also played Bass as a session artist and has given backing vocals for jingles and songs for Music directors and producers like Ram Sampath,Lesle Lewis and Abhijeet Vaghani.
Recently she was a part of 'T-Series Mixtape Season 2', where she played Bass for top Bollywood singers. She was a part of Mae Thomas's podcast interview and session 'Maed in India ' for women's day special episode with Ladies Compartment and Friends. Apart from Bass playing she also Produces Music on Ableton. She teaches acoustic guitar at her own venture called 6 String Academy.
