About the Event
Live! at the Library is a new collaboration between Ministry Of New and Helter Skelter Magazine to showcase the independent arts scene in India. Set in a beautiful library overlooking the heritage buildings of south Bombay, this will be a series of live and intimate events featuring music, dance, poetry, and literature, along with interviews, workshops, and discussions with creative people from across the country.
They are kicking off with their second edition of Live! At the Library with a celebration of LOVE, however it may manifest—love your friends, love your partner, love your art—it doesn’t matter, LOVE IS LOVE. Poets from across the city are invited to participate in an OPEN MIC session. The best open mic poets receive surprise gifts from Kulture Shop and Studio Kohl. Come wearing your hearts on your sleeve.
That’s not it, everyone who buys a ticket gets to bring a plus one for free. Attendees also get to enjoy free wine from Reveilo Vintage Wines, curated by Wine You Up!
A special someone, great music, and some wine. Isn’t this everything you need to make your evening perfect?
The second edition of Live! at the Library will also see performances by:
Nush Lewis
Nush Lewis is a harpist-singer-songwriter. Her pensive, moody compositions were left mostly acoustic until producer Ayan De began breathing his own slice of sonic life into the music early last year. She released her debut EP 'Fused' online in 2015 to much acclaim. Her acoustic set at Live! at the Library will be a completely stripped down set with just her on harp and two accompanying vocalists to give the audience the most organic experience of her sound.
Ranjit Arapurakal
Ranjit Arapurakal spent 15 years in New York City’s legendary Rock, Jazz, Funk and Soul music scenes, performing in countless bands and collectives. Currently residing in Mumbai, he is performing all around the country, as a solo act and with his band, Ranjit and the Ambassadors, featuring Nevin DMello on Lead Guitar and Bobby Duggal of Indus Creed on Drums. Ranjit’s original lyrics and compositions pull influence from Blues, Punk, Reggae, Jazz, Rock, Funk, and Soul Music, creating a unique fusion. He has been named as one of India’s best-dressed musicians by GQ in 2016.
Jason Arland
Jason Arland is India’s most promising celebrity make-up artist and fashion influencer. A 21-year-old prodigy, he has been involved in many different artistic disciplines from the age of 7, including dance and music. His newest venture, Beau Shringar, is a platform for gender equality. Performing with Savio and Darshan at Live! at the Library, he’ll be talking about life, love, and reality.
"We live through times when hate and fear seem stronger.
We rise and fall, and light from dying embers
Remembrances that hope and love last longer.
And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love;
Cannot be killed or swept aside."
– Lin-Manuel Miranda
