About the Event
Performed by two of the most outstanding female vocalists of Hindustani Classical, we embark to discover the trickles and waves, soft tides and high waves of monsoon raags.
Accompanied by the excellent Ashoke Shinde on the tabla, Sriparna Chatterjee will gentle lead us into the right mood. She will be performing Raag Miyaan ki Malhar. Starting with Madhya Laya in ektaal and then going to Drut Bandish in teental, ending with Tarana in ektal.
Bridging the two vocal performances, will be the enchanting sounds of the sarangi, played by Ghulam Ali (the 17th in his generation to play the instrument!).
Taking the lead from here, Ronkini Gupta will be performing the Raag Megh Malhar- a sweet yet melancholic monsoon raaga. She will conclude the evening with the performance of two Bandishes, one in jhaptaal and the other in teentaal.
All pieces will be performed Harkat-style - entirely without additional amplification, no mics, no speakers, just pure music!
