Over five weekends, you’ll have the chance to catch 24 live performances in a mix of languages, each showcasing a unique slice of contemporary and traditional theatre. Imagine being transported from a small Ladakhi village one moment to the post-civil war memories of El Salvador the next.
Highlights this year include:
- Project Darling, where Sharanya Ramprakash explores and questions women’s roles in theatre and tradition.
- The Gentleman’s Club by Patchworks Ensemble, blending Bollywood glam with a playful drag-king cabaret twist.
- HE, a deeply physical-emotional piece by Australia’s Rodrigo Calderon, is being performed in India for the first time.
- Nidravathwam and Urmila by Adishakti Theatre, reimagining beloved characters from the Ramayana.
But Manam isn’t just about weekend performances. The festival is packed with weekday events like workshops, panel discussions, and backstage meet-and-greets with celebrated theatre artists. It’s a chance to go beyond the audience seat—whether you’re curious about storytelling techniques or just want a peek into the creative process, there’s something here for everyone.
And if you’re planning to bring the kids, you’re in luck! Manam has teamed up with the Hyderabad Children’s Theatre Festival to present an exclusive week for family-friendly performances, including Gillo Repertory Theatre’s The Ghost of the Mountains and Mister Jeejeebhoy and the Birds—perfect for sparking young imaginations.
We’re also kicking things off with “Welcome Home”, a day dedicated to art, community, and connection at The We_Us House. Think of it as a festival within a festival—an open invitation for everyone to come together and celebrate.
