We end the evening with a music concert with the Manganiars and Langas of Rajasthan - presenting the music of the desert, cross border songs and stories.

The theme of this concert is ‘Beyond Borders’ where the musicians will explore the effect of the India- Pakistan border on a living cultural tradition. The folk musicians on either side, in India and Pakistan felt a shrinking of their repertoires. Their songs, stories and ballads included the culture of the Sindh region which got split down the middle. Teachers were separated from students, instrument makers from performers, and pilgrims from shrines. This effect can be felt even today. Yet references of the other side in their songs and stories come imaginatively alive when they sing and help in bringing the people of both sides closer.

Only when the artist intends it does art become a powerful transformative body that questions, teases, and brings down societal barricades.
