Mead is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey with various fruits and spices. It is the oldest fermented beverage known to man with evidence going back 9,000 years. Some historians suggest that it could actually be over 25,000 years old! That’s even older than agriculture itself. Mead has a rich history and can be found in various cultures through the ages. Derived from madh, (Sanskrit for honey), ancient Indian texts refer to it as Som Ras and Madira. The Vikings would famously drink mead before entering battle. Works of literature like Shakespeare, The Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones and even Harry Potter pay homage to this beverage.

Moonshine Meadery is Asia’s first meadery based in Pune, India. They are bringing back a craft beverage steeped in history in an all-natural form with no added flavor, color or aroma. Their meads are gluten-free and carbonated. They’re committed to highlighting fantastic local produce in their meads.
