Mixtape & Social Present DISRUPT Ft. Clap! Clap, Preditah & More!
Mixtape in partnership with Social announces a one-day music festival, DISRUPT, in Mumbai this November.
The festival also celebrates the second anniversary of the city’s popular café/performance venue, Khar Social.
Staying true to the dictum of dispensing shows with a high caliber of production, DISRUPT, is a brand new urban music festival that aims to quite literally disrupt or break away from the status quo. Spread across 3 stages at the cozy Khar Social, the festival features a diverse range of acts spanning genres like Afro-Beat, House, Hip-Hop, Dub, Grime, UK Garage, and Bass Music.
With his music supported by the likes of Gilles Peterson and featured in GTA V, Boiler Room, Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel mix series, and the FABRIC mix CD series, Clap! Clap! aka Cristiano Crisci is an internationally acclaimed producer and performer who brings together disparate inspirations and styles onto the dancefloor of his mind. Cristiano’s music features traditional Italian folk rhythms and melodies mixed with a global harvest of found-sounds smashed through an electronic beat machine mind state. He has performed his energetic live shows across Europe and Japan and produced for Paul Simon.
Nathan Gerald, better known as Preditah, broke through with his track ‘The Big Wok’ which was first noticed by JME (Boy Better Know). Once he started screaming his name, it wasn’t long until the rest of the UK music scene and beyond witnessed just how talented Preditah is. Thump (Vice) has hailed Preditah as a Gospel-Loving Grime Producer whose melodic base-laced cuts have turned him into somewhat of a grime celeb. From hitting the road as the Tour DJ for Mercury Award winner, Skepta, to producing tracks for JME, and releasing some of the highest club bangers in recent years, Preditah has been busy traveling up and down the UK and Europe showing clubs and promoters that he is just as good a DJ as he is a music composer.
“With DISRUPT, we want the audiences to experience an urban festival like they have never experienced before”, says Naveen Deshpande, Founder Director at Mixtape. He adds, “At Mixtape, tradition has always been to put heavy emphasis on the production of the gig with cutting edge sound, lights, and video – which comes in priority right after the curation. With this arsenal we hope to create a sort of chaos within harmony.”
